Technician

Field Service Technician

The Field Service Technician works onsite at a major distribution facility, repairing and maintaining Crown material handling equipment. This role involves traveling in a company-provided van, using personal tools, and performing preventative, reactive, and emergency repairs to keep forklifts and related Crown equipment operating safely and efficiently.

Responsibilities

• Travel to customer sites in a company-provided van to service Crown material handling equipment.
• Perform preventative maintenance on forklifts and other Crown equipment to minimize downtime and extend equipment life.
• Diagnose and repair mechanical, hydraulic, pneumatic, and electrical issues on industrial material handling equipment.
• Respond to reactive and emergency repair requests to quickly restore equipment to safe operating condition.
• Use industrial electrical knowledge to troubleshoot and repair control systems, wiring, and electrical components.
• Read and interpret electrical and mechanical schematics, diagrams, and manuals to identify faults and perform accurate repairs.
• Conduct inspections to identify potential issues and recommend corrective actions or maintenance plans.
• Document work performed, parts used, and equipment status in a clear and accurate manner.
• Maintain personal tools and ensure they are suitable and safe for onsite repair work.
• Communicate effectively with onsite staff to coordinate repair schedules and explain findings and recommendations.

Essential Skills

• Hands-on experience as a service technician working on industrial equipment.
• Strong knowledge of hydraulics and pneumatic systems used in material handling equipment.
• Proven experience performing preventative maintenance on industrial machinery.
• Industrial electrical experience, including troubleshooting and repair of electrical systems.
• Ability to read and interpret schematics, diagrams, and technical manuals.
• Experience repairing material handling equipment such as Crown forklifts and related machinery.
• Capability to perform reactive and emergency repairs in a fast-paced environment.
• Valid driver's license and ability to safely operate a company van.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

• Experience in industrial maintenance or related technical field.
• Experience working in small shop or field service environments.
• Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
• Ability to work independently while managing time and priorities effectively.
• Good communication skills for interacting with onsite personnel and documenting service work.

Work Environment

The role is based out of a small shop but is primarily field-oriented, with most time spent on the road or onsite at customer facilities. Work is performed in active industrial and warehouse environments around material handling equipment, requiring adherence to safety practices and appropriate work attire suitable for hands-on mechanical and electrical tasks.

Job Type & Location: This is a Permanent position based out of Louisville, KY.

Pay and Benefits: The pay range for this position is $60000.00 - $80000.00/yr. 80 Days PTO Paid on all major holidays Company Van Benefits Retirement Family Owned
