Position: Academic Clinical Gastroenterologist

The Division of Gastroenterology & Hepatology is seeking a full-time general gastroenterologist to deliver clinical services across various locations, including the University of Maryland Downtown and Midtown Campuses, the Baltimore VA Medical Center, and several community practices, as well as local ambulatory surgical centers. The anticipated faculty rank for this role is Assistant Professor or higher, with the final rank, tenure status, and salary being determined based on the qualifications and experience of the selected candidate.

Compensation

The expected salary range for Assistant Professors is between $225,865 (minimum) and $438,554 (maximum). This range reflects base pay, which is influenced by faculty rank and years of service. It is important to note that this salary range does not encompass all elements of the departmental faculty compensation program or earnings from participation in variable compensation initiatives. Consequently, the actual compensation for the chosen candidate may differ from the stated range.

The salary range provided represents the minimum and maximum for this position based on the organization’s good faith assessment at the time of posting. Not all candidates will qualify for the upper end of this range. The final compensation will depend on various factors, including geographic location, skills, work experience, internal equity, market conditions, and educational background, as reasonably determined by the organization.

Qualifications

Applicants must possess a medical degree from an accredited institution (or an equivalent foreign degree), demonstrate a strong commitment to patient care and education, and excel in a collaborative team environment. Candidates should be board-certified or board-eligible in Gastroenterology, with a proven record of clinical research being highly desirable. As this position is partially funded by the VA, all applicants must be U.S. citizens.
