Nurse Supervisor (Assistant Director of Nursing)
Location: Brooklyn, NY
Employment Type: Full-Time / Direct Hire
Job Summary
The Nurse Supervisor (Assistant Director of Nursing) is responsible for planning, developing, and implementing programs that enhance patient care quality and nursing staff performance.
This position works closely with Nurse Managers to monitor clinical operations, evaluate patient care outcomes, identify opportunities for performance improvement, and implement corrective actions when necessary.
Key Responsibilities- Plan and implement programs designed to improve patient care quality and nursing performance.
- Supervise nursing operations and provide leadership and guidance to nursing staff.
- Monitor patient care performance and evaluate clinical quality indicators.
- Collaborate with Nurse Managers to assess and improve unit performance.
- Identify operational and clinical issues and develop and implement corrective action plans.
- Develop and maintain accurate record-keeping systems related to:
- Medication errors
- Employee counseling
- Performance improvement initiatives
- Ensure compliance with hospital policies, procedures, and nursing standards.
- Promote continuous quality improvement and patient safety initiatives.
- Support staff development through coaching, mentoring, and performance management.
- Participate in departmental planning and quality improvement activities.
Candidates must meet one of the following education and experience requirements:
Option 1 – Master’s Degree in Nursing
- Master’s Degree in Nursing.
- Minimum 5 years of nursing experience.
- At least 3 years of experience in a supervisory or teaching role.
Option 2 – Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing
- Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing.
- Minimum 6 years of nursing experience.
- At least 4 years of experience in a supervisory or teaching role.
- Active Registered Nurse (RN) License.
- Primary Source Verification of RN License through the New York State Department of Education (NYSED).
- Basic Life Support (BLS) Certification from the American Heart Association (AHA).
