About the Position

Job Title: Registered Nurse Profession: Registered Nurse Specialty: Med/Surg Duration: 13 weeks Shift: 12-Hour Nights Hours per Shift: 36 Experience: 2 years required License: Current Nursing License Certifications: BLS, ACLS, NIHSS Must-Have: - Traveler must pass an EKG competency exam prior to arrival. - Knowledge of wound management, JP drains, wound vacs, hemodialysis catheter care, fistulas, PCA, pain management, and cardiac rhythm interpretation. Description: The unit has 30 beds. The focus is on urology postoperative patients including robotic radical and simple prostatectomies, partial cystectomies, partial nephrectomies, open radical nephrectomies, and nephroureterectomies. There are many educational opportunities for travelers as this is a new focus within the department. The unit also handles Med/Surg overflow cases such as sepsis, cellulitis, DVT/PE, CHF, COPD, COVID, and pneumonia. Occasionally, total joint surgeries and GI/abdominal surgeries are managed as post-operative overflow. The patient ratio for nights is 1:6 with 3 CNAs per shift. Floating may be required to other Med/Surg areas within the facility. Weekend rotation includes working every other weekend. Travelers will work 4 days one week and 3 days the next week, which is mandatory. Up to 7 days of time off may be approved, but must extend by 1 week for every full week requested off. Only one weekend of time off can be requested per 13-week contract. Holiday expectations include working 2 out of 3 holidays. Scrub color is pewter. T-shirts must be gray, white, or black. Jackets must be gray or black. Badges must be worn above the waist and in full view at all times.
