Salary Range: $52,725.89 - $73,236.48 GENERAL STATEMENT OF JOB Under occasional supervision, oversees and performs installation, maintenance, and repair of domestic water, storm water, sewer, gas, filtration and other related systems. Ensures compliance with applicable codes, specifications, schedules and standards. Supervises assigned crew members and reviews work of subordinates for completeness and accuracy. Reports to the Facilities Management Manager or Coordinator. SPECIFIC DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS
MINIMUM TRAINING AND EXPERIENCE Requires high school diploma supplemented by 10 years of experience in plumbing repair, or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience that provides the required knowledge, skills and abilities. Must possess a valid state driver's license. A Journeyman Plumber License is required, a Master Plumber License is preferrable. MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS OR STANDARDS REQUIRED TO PERFORM ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS Physical Requirements: Must be physically able to operate a variety of machines and equipment including a two-way radio, vehicle, hand and power tools, etc. Must be able to exert up to twenty pounds of force occasionally and/or a negligible amount of force frequently or constantly to lift, carry, push, pull or otherwise move objects. Physical demands are in excess of those of sedentary work; work involves driving, walking or standing for periods of time, stooping, kneeling, crouching, pushing, pulling, climbing, etc., and performing manual tasks. Must be able to lift and/or carry weights of up to 100 pounds. - Supervises the duties of assigned plumbers and apprentices. Duties include assigning, reviewing and planning work of others; maintaining standards; allocating personnel; selecting new employees; performing annual evaluations, acting on employee concerns; and initiating employee disciplinary actions as appropriate.
- Reviews the work of subordinates for completeness and accuracy; offers advice and assistance as needed.
- Provides training for all staff (including safety and skill based).
- Supervises and performs plumbing duties. Duties include, but not limited to, diagnosing malfunctions, repairing broken water lines, unstopping and maintaining sewer lines, maintaining hot water systems to ensure health and sanitation, repairing and maintaining back flow devices, plumbing fixtures, etc.
- Inspects work in progress and after completion to ensure compliance with applicable codes, specifications, standards and schedules.
- Estimates materials and labor for job assignments; obtains prices for and orders supplies required for projects.
- Responds to after-hours emergency calls as needed.
- Receives, reviews, prepares and/or submits various records and reports including work orders, diagnostic reports, parts requests, specifications, accident reports, performance appraisals, attendance records, etc.
- Operates and maintains a variety of equipment such as a two-way radio, vehicle, back hoe, truck, high pressure jetter, computer, electronic pipe locator, power tools, hand tools, diagnostic tools, etc.
- Interacts and communicates with various groups and individuals such as the immediate supervisor, co-workers, subordinates, District administrators and staff, students, sales representatives, etc.
- Provides assistance to other trades employees as required.
- Performs other duties as assigned by Facilities Management Manager or Coordinator.
