City/State: Nyack, New York Department: 5 Maze Bargaining Unit: NH- NYSNA Work Shift: Day Work Days: DAYS VARY, WEEKENDS AND HOLIDAYS Scheduled Hours: 7 AM-7 PM Scheduled Daily Hours: 11.5 HOURS Hours Per Pay Period: 37.5 Hourly Rate/Range: $55.40+ per hour Job Summary The Registered Professional Nurse is responsible for managing, delegating, coordinating and providing nursing care through utilization of the nursing process. The above is accomplished with the utilization of effective communication skills with patients, significant others and members of the multidisciplinary health care team. Within the scope of practice assumes responsibility, as necessary, for the assessment, treatment and care of patients of all ages (neonate to geriatric). Displays an understanding of the developmental needs of the patient when planning and implementing treatment. Displays competency in obtaining information and interpreting the patient’s behavior based upon an understanding of the patient’s cognitive, biopsychosocial and religious cultural aging processes. The Registered Nurse is accountable for maintaining his/her clinical competence in reaching the defined standards of care for the area of nursing practice. Essential Functions / Job Specific Competencies Systematically provides nursing care to patients within the framework of the nursing process and established standards of practice. Integrates principles of patient safety in the provision of direct nursing care and medication management. Adheres to established system-wide communication standards and processes. Participates in designated forums which address patient care, patient education, policy and procedures, safety and clinical outcomes. Demonstrates accountability for maintaining and improving professional knowledge and skill related to the area of practice. Document on addendum age specific competency. Qualifications Bachelor Degree Required or Associate Degree Preferred. Experience: 1 year Med/Surg experience preferred. National Certification in area of practice preferred. On Call required for the following areas: OR, PACU, and Cath Lab. For transfer requirements, please refer to the NYSNA CBA Registered Nurse New York - New York State Board of Nursing. Required Certifications: BLS Basic Life Support - American Heart Association ACLS Advanced Cardiac Life Support - American Heart Association (for various areas within 3-6 months). PALS Pediatric Advanced Life Support - American Heart Association (for various areas within 3-6 months). NRP Neonatal Resuscitation Program - American Heart Association (for various areas within 6 months). Oncology Nurse Specialist Chemotherapy & Biotherapy Provider - ONCOLOGY NURSING SOCIETY (ONS).
