Registered Nurse-4 Doctors (med/oncology)

Location and Shift City/State: Nyack, New York Work Shift: Night (7 PM-7 AM). Nights vary, weekends and holidays. Scheduled Hours: 11.5 hours per day, 37.5 hours per pay period. Hourly Rate: Starting at $55.40 per hour (subject to shift differential, experience, education or other factors). Job Summary The Registered Professional Nurse is responsible for managing, delegating, coordinating and providing nursing care through utilization of the nursing process. The role includes effective communication skills with patients, significant others and members of the multidisciplinary health care team. Within the scope of practice assumes responsibility, as necessary, for the assessment, treatment and care of patients of all ages (neonate to geriatric). Displays an understanding of developmental needs of the patient when planning and implementing treatment. Demonstrates competency in obtaining information and interpreting patient behavior based on cognitive, biopsychosocial and religious cultural aging processes. The Registered Nurse is accountable for maintaining clinical competence and reaching defined standards of care for the area of nursing practice. Key Responsibilities Systematically provides nursing care to patients within the framework of the nursing process and established standards of practice. Integrates principles of patient safety in the provision of direct nursing care and medication management. Adheres to established system-wide communication standards and processes. Participates in designated forums which address patient care, patient education, policy and procedures, safety and clinical outcomes. Demonstrates accountability for maintaining and improving professional knowledge and skill related to the area of practice. Demonstrates positive communication with people of different cultures, values and beliefs. Demonstrates the ability to acknowledge customer concerns and takes corrective action. Complies with licensure and/or certification requirements. Participates in annual competency assessment. Budget Demonstrates fiscally prudent use of equipment and supplies. Utilizes charge process for supplies/equipment. Projects/Assignments Completes projects/assignments within projected time frames and expectations. Qualifications Bachelor Degree required or Associate Degree preferred. 1 year Med/Surg experience preferred. National Certification in area of practice preferred. On Call Requirements Operating Room (OR) Post-Anesthesia Care Unit (PACU) Cath Lab Certification Requirements BLS (Basic Life Support) – American Heart Association required for all nursing roles. ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support) – American Heart Association required for ED, SICU, MICU, 3 Doctors, Cath Lab, Endo, Labor & Delivery, Nursing Radiology, and SDS within 6 months of hire/transfer; PACU within 3 months of hire/transfer. PALS (Pediatric Advanced Life Support) – American Heart Association required for ED, Nursing Radiology, and SDS within 6 months of hire/transfer; PACU within 3 months of hire/transfer. NRP (Neonatal Resuscitation Program) – American Heart Association required for Labor & Delivery, Mother/Baby, and NICU within 6 months of hire. Oncology Nurse Specialist Chemotherapy & Biotherapy Provider – Oncology Nursing Society required for Infusion Center. Other state board requirements: NYSNA Registered Nurse, New York State Board of Nursing, BLS, ACLS, and related certifications as applicable.
