Senior Front End Software Developer

Job Summary:

The Senior Front End Software Developer is responsible for designing, developing, and implementing user interface code to create attractive, effective, and responsive web applications. This role involves translating technical specifications into tested applications, troubleshooting technical issues, and collaborating across the software development lifecycle to deliver high-quality front end solutions aligned with product strategy and accessibility standards. Responsibilities:

• Design, develop, and implement front end code including user interface interactions.
• Create and maintain attractive and effective user interfaces for large-scale web applications.
• Translate technical system specifications into working, tested applications.
• Develop detailed programming specifications, write code, compile data-driven programs, and conduct unit tests.
• Resolve and troubleshoot technical problems during software use and operation.
• Collaborate with IT professionals throughout the Software Development Life Cycle.
• Work with external third parties to assess partnerships, licensing opportunities, and run beta/pilot programs.
• Ensure cross-browser compatibility and responsive design frameworks are implemented.
• Adhere to Accessibility for Ontarians with Disability Act (AODA) and related regulations.
• Provide post-implementation support and user/system documentation as required.

Required Skills & Certifications:

• 10+ years of demonstrated experience with Java programming language.
• 5+ years experience with React, RXJS, Typescript, HTML5, CSS, and Node package managers like NPM.
• 10+ years experience with Javascript.
• Experience with Java development IDE tools such as Eclipse, IBM RAD, IBM RSA.
• Experience with WebSphere v8.5 or higher and Hibernate/JPA.
• Experience with Spring Framework components including MVC, Security, JPA, and Boot.
• Experience with Bitbucket version control and Maven build tools.
• 5+ years experience with Oracle database (version 11G+) including SQL, tables, views, stored procedures, functions, and triggers.
• Demonstrated experience with AODA/WCAG 2.0 AA compliance and accessibility standards.
• Strong analytical, problem-solving, decision-making, verbal and written communication skills.
• Ability to collaborate effectively and meet deadlines as a team player.

Preferred Skills & Certifications:

• Experience with responsive web application development frameworks such as Bootstrap and jQuery.
• Knowledge of programming Internet-ready applications and rapid application development (RAD) methodologies.
• Understanding of information management principles, middleware, and gateways.
• Experience reviewing and modifying product installation scripts including encoding, testing, and debugging.
• Experience conducting design walkthrough sessions with project teams.
• Prior experience in OPS or public sector environments.
• Experience defining product strategy and roadmap.
• Experience working with social media APIs.
