Senior Software Developer

Job Summary:

The Senior Software Developer is responsible for designing, developing, testing, and maintaining large-scale multi-client web applications. This role involves translating technical specifications into robust, scalable software solutions primarily using Java and Oracle or SQL databases. The developer will collaborate across IT teams throughout the software development lifecycle, applying best practices in object-oriented design, Agile methodologies, and microservice architectures to deliver high-quality products. Responsibilities:

• Translate technical system specifications into tested, functional applications.
• Develop detailed programming specifications, write code, compile data-driven programs, and maintain software.
• Conduct unit testing and troubleshoot technical issues during software operation and implementation.
• Collaborate with IT professionals throughout the Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC).
• Design, code, test, debug, and document applications using structured methodologies.
• Support post-implementation technical issues and provide ongoing maintenance.
• Conduct design walkthroughs and participate in impact assessments for Oracle E-Business customizations.
• Ensure adherence to coding standards, security protocols, and Agile development processes.
• Work with stakeholders to elicit and document requirements and provide user/system documentation.

Required Skills & Certifications:

• 10+ years of experience designing and developing large-scale multi-client web applications.
• 10+ years of hands-on Java development experience with Oracle or SQL databases.
• 5+ years of experience with REST APIs and RESTful Web Services.
• Strong knowledge of Agile methodologies and object-oriented coding practices including design patterns and clean code.
• Experience with relational and hierarchical databases and query languages.
• Knowledge of security gateways and protocols such as JWT, OAuth 2.0, and SSL certificates.
• Experience with microservice architecture and core architecture principles.
• Excellent analytical, problem-solving, verbal, and written communication skills.
• Ability to work effectively in teams and meet aggressive deadlines.

Preferred Skills & Certifications:

• Experience with Oracle E-Business modules including General Ledger, Accounts Receivable, Collections, Accounts Payable, and Inventory.
• Strong PL/SQL, SQL, XML, Unix shell scripting, and Oracle Data Integrator skills.
• Experience with Java and Oracle Application Development Framework (ADF).
• Knowledge of rapid application development (RAD) methodologies.
• Experience with middleware, gateways, and product installation scripting.
• Familiarity with Accessibility for Ontarians with Disability Act (AODA) and related standards.
• Experience using Azure DevOps and programming Internet-ready applications.
• Public sector or OPS development experience.
• Understanding of Information Management principles and data warehouse/ETL methodologies.

• May be required to provide on-call support or post-implementation assistance.
• Strong leadership abilities to oversee project quality assurance from a technical perspective.
