Registered NurseWe are searching for a Registered Nurse for our General Med/Surg unit (20WT)– someone who works well in a fast-paced setting. 20WT is a 34 bed med/surg unit that sees kidney, liver transplant, renal and GI patients. Think you've got what it takes?Shift: Full Time Days 7a-7pRequirements:Bachelor's degree in nursing or an associate's degree, technical diploma, or current enrollment in a nursing bridge program is requiredCurrent licensure with the Board of Nursing for the State of Texas or Nurse Licensure Compact and BLS certification with American Heart Association are required9 months of professional nursing experienceThe ability to demonstrate positive and appropriate interpersonal skillsDemonstrate good time and resource management skillsDemonstrate flexibilityDemonstrate strong oral and written communication skillsOperate unit specific equipmentKnowledge of the nursing process, critical thinking skills, PALS, ACLS and interdisciplinary collaborationAs part of our commitment to maintaining a safe and healthy workplace, all successful candidates will be required to undergo respiratory fit testing in compliance with occupational health and safety standards.Responsibilities:Performs and documents assessment of the patient/family including biophysical, psychosocial, developmental (age – appropriate), culture, spiritual, and environmental needs in an organized and systematic manner.Analyzes situations, anticipates potential problem, and detects changes in patient statusRe-prioritizes and updates plan of care based on new information and changes to the patient's condition; communicates this information to other health care team members and documents in the medical record.Participates in interdisciplinary rounds and/or patient care conferences and documents in the medical recordAssists patients/family in implementing their role in the plan of care as appropriateAssess patient family learning needs capabilities, preferences, and readiness to learn prior to teaching.Demonstrates positive and effective interpersonal skills when dealing with patients/families, visitors, peers, and other health care team members.Administers and documents medications and treatments in a timely manner.Demonstrates willingness and ability to acquire new knowledge and utilize new skills needed to improve individual, team, and organizational performance.Participate in unit performance improvement initiatives.About Us:Since 1954, Texas Children's has been leading the charge in patient care, education and research to accelerate health care for children and women around the world.
