Remote Engineering Manager - Exploration Team - O(1) Labs

We are looking for talented and motivated engineers to join the Engineering team at O(1) Labs. This is a chance to join a small, collaborative team and have a ton of independence while working on fascinating cross-disciplinary problems in computing and building on the first cryptocurrency protocol with a succinct blockchain, Mina Protocol. The team: The Exploration team will operate similarly to other teams at O(1), but will focus on building on o1js, kimchi, and Mina directly. The team will develop prototypes of new zkApp ideas, test experimental zk designs, and establish patterns to empower o1js with new uses. Their projects will serve as inspiration for the community and the company, acting as examples and foundations for the ecosystem's growth. The team will share their work at events, helping to establish O(1) Labs as a leader in zk engineering and supporting both new and experienced developers. Their insights will guide the company's focus and growth, and they will contribute to blog posts and social media to enhance O(1) Labs' reputation in the zk space. The role: At O(1) Labs, Mina is central to our work. As zkApps become live on Mina’s mainnet with the Berkeley upgrade, we aim to expand our community and lead by example, sharing our expertise in the zkApps landscape. We seek a leader to develop and grow the Exploration team, ensuring they stay at the forefront of zk technology and support the ecosystem through collaborations with external partners and the Mina community. In this role, you will: Mentor engineers to grow professionally and create an empowering environment Establish team structure, culture, and processes that promote collaboration and accountability Maintain technical and product expertise within the team, staying updated on the latest features and uses Understand how the proof system, protocol, and SDK interact to enable zkApps Collaborate with Product, Marketing, Business Development, and other stakeholders on engineering roadmaps Support Business Development with zkApps solutions for partner projects Contribute to the company's reputation for excellence Ideal candidates will have experience with engineering management and interests in: Zero-knowledge proof systems Cryptography and blockchain technology Public-facing projects Research and implementation of novel ideas Programming language theory and design Javascript or Typescript API design and developer experience We value individual backgrounds over strict requirements.
