Pharmacist – Home Infusion

Location: Totowa, NJ
Duration: 10-Week Contract Assignment
Schedule: Monday–Friday | 9:00 AM – 5:30 PM
Occasional extended hours until 7:00 PM may be required based on business needs.

Position Overview

We are seeking a licensed Pharmacist to support a specialized home infusion pharmacy in Totowa, New Jersey. This short-term contract opportunity is ideal for a pharmacist with experience in home infusion, hospital pharmacy, or sterile compounding environments who is passionate about delivering high-quality patient care and ensuring medication safety.

In this role, you will provide clinical oversight, perform pharmacist verification duties, collaborate with healthcare providers, and support infusion therapy services for patients with complex medication needs.

Key Responsibilities

Perform final prescription verification, laboratory reviews, documentation review, and other pharmacist-level clinical responsibilities
Ensure medication orders are accurate, appropriate, and compliant with all applicable regulations and standards
Accept and dispense prescription medications while maintaining the highest standards of patient safety
Monitor patient medication utilization and identify potential adherence or overuse concerns
Maintain complete and accurate patient records and pharmacy documentation
Counsel patients on prescription medications, over-the-counter products, dosage instructions, side effects, and potential drug interactions
Educate patients on the proper use of medical devices, including blood glucose monitors and blood pressure equipment
Provide clinical support services such as smoking cessation counseling and wellness monitoring programs
Prepare and oversee compounded medications, including sterile preparations when required
Supervise pharmacy technicians and support staff to ensure efficient workflow and regulatory compliance
Monitor and manage pharmacy inventory levels and medical supplies
Partner with physicians, nurses, and other healthcare professionals to resolve medication-related concerns and optimize treatment outcomes

Qualifications

Doctor of Pharmacy (PharmD) degree required
Active and unrestricted New Jersey Pharmacist license
Previous experience in home infusion, infusion therapy, or hospital pharmacy settings preferred
Sterile compounding experience strongly preferred
Strong clinical knowledge and attention to detail
Excellent communication and patient counseling skills
Ability to work collaboratively in a fast-paced healthcare environment
