Adjunct Machine Shop CNC Instructor

The Los Angeles Community College District (LACCD) is the largest community college district in the United States and one of the largest in the world. The LACCD is comprised of nine colleges serving all or part of more than 40 cities in Southern California and spanning a service area of 882 square miles. The LACCD is accepting applications for Adjunct Machine Shop CNC Instructor positions at our colleges for the Academic School Year 2023. The purpose of this posting is to create a pool of qualified applicants so that when there is an actual opening at one of our colleges, the college can then begin their review process by reviewing those applicants. The LACCD is seeking dynamic, motivated and diverse candidates for part-time faculty positions to engage and educate our students. Successful candidates will collaborate, communicate and work as professionals with students, staff, faculty and administrators. During completion of the adjunct application, applicants will have the opportunity to indicate which of LACCD's colleges are of interest for employment. Qualified applicants may be offered an interview with Industrial Technology Department members at one or more of LACCD's 9 colleges. Final determination of part-time Machine Shop CNC Instructor assignments are contingent upon enrollment, funding and class availability.

Minimum Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree or higher in any field AND Two (2) years of full-time related professional experience; OR
• Associate degree in any field AND Six (6) years of full-time related professional experience; OR
• The Equivalent.
• A sensitivity to and an understanding of the diverse academic, socioeconomic, cultural, disability, and ethnic backgrounds of community college students.

Eligibility Requirement COVID 19 Vaccination:

Pursuant to LACCD Board of Trustee's Policy 2900, all students and employees must be fully vaccinated or have an approved exemption. LACCD employees are required to provide their vaccination status in compliance with the LACCD Board of Trustees' policy. Newly hired employees will be required to provide their vaccination status prior to starting a position or, at the latest, by their position start date.

Duties

The adjunct instructor should be prepared to teach a range of courses within the Machine Shop CNC (Industrial Technology) discipline, promoting engaging and inclusive educational environments that support student learning. The successful candidate will be culturally responsive in interactions with students, faculty, staff, and community members who span a diverse range of languages, nationalities and ethnicities, socio-economic levels, ages, identities, abilities and educational experiences. Evening and/or weekend classes may be scheduled based on department needs. Duties of this position include, but are not limited to the following:

Desirable Qualifications

• Experience in teaching postsecondary courses in Machine Shop-CNC;
• Direct, recent experience in the Machine Shop-CNC industry and/or Manufacturing and Industrial Technology;
• Proficient in the operation of CNC and manual manufacturing machinery;
• Demonstrated ability to adapt teaching strategies and techniques to different levels of students' ability and learning styles;
• Experience in developing and delivering web-based curriculum;
• Coordinate and collaborate with other faculty in the maintenance and development of strategic relationships with surrounding industries and local high schools:

• On a continuing basis, the ability to research and apply new and better ways to help students learn complex technical concepts and skills;
• A commitment to maintain substantial skills and knowledge in the field;
• Demonstrated ability to work with business' and industry in order to coordinate the educational program within the needs of the community;
• Proficient in CAM software such as MasterCAM and,

• Demonstrate sensitivity to and understanding of the diverse academic, socioeconomic, cultural, disability, and ethnic backgrounds of community college faculty, staff and students.

Compensation

The salary schedule for adjunct instructors begins at $86.85 per standard hour, plus an office hour differential of $20.32 per hour for classroom assignments. Applicants with a doctoral degree are eligible for a doctoral differential.
