Director/Fractional CFO - Consumer Packaged Goods (CPG) - Outsourced Accounting & Finance

Job Overview We are seeking a Director/Fractional CFO for our Outsourced CFO & Accounting Services group. The role involves serving as the fractional CFO for a portfolio of high‑growth Consumer Packaged Goods (CPG) and Technology clients, many of them VC or PE backed. The candidate will provide financial leadership, strategic counsel, and oversee a growing internal Finance team. Responsibilities Client Financial Leadership: analyze complex financial information, provide strategic recommendations, support fundraising strategies across debt and equity, advise on financial diligence and KPI expectations required by institutional investors. Prepare and attend Board of Directors’ meetings, including investor pitch decks and board presentations. Ensure financial models and reporting reflect GAAP and industry best practice. Analyze trends in financial metrics and KPIs specific to CPG and technology clients. Monitor metrics, highlight variances, support employee option plans, and cap table management. Evaluate clients’ processes to drive efficiencies and performance, perform ad‑hoc reporting and analysis. Oversee client engagements to ensure timely delivery of financial deliverables and client satisfaction. Act as primary point of contact for clients and expand services to existing relationships. Finance Team Leadership: lead, coach, and mentor the internal FP&A team and CFOs, establish best practices, manage EA Group Finance resources. Drive automation and efficiency by exploring and implementing modern accounting, FP&A software, and AI‑enabled tools. Participate in business development activities including networking, BD calls, and client introductions to other firm services. Qualifications Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Economics, or related business field. 20+ years of accounting or finance experience. CFO‑level experience with small, scaling, and/or start‑up companies in CPG and/or technology. Expertise across CPG revenue models (e‑commerce, wholesale, retail) including inventory and trade spend; manufacturing experience. Prior client service experience in consulting or a similar setting. Prior supervisory experience. Preferred/Desired Qualifications Advanced degree (e.g., Master’s) in Accounting, Finance, Economics, or related business field. CPA license or candidate for CPA, preferred. Direct experience working with VC‑ and/or PE‑backed companies (fundraising, investor reporting, board engagement). Proven experience leading and developing a finance/accounting team. Experience with technology/SaaS metrics and unit economics. Ability to draft customized financial policies and procedures for clients. Strong interpersonal skills and executive presence. Creative, effective problem‑solving skills and high detail orientation. Hands‑on mentor and coach, comfortable managing remote teams. Experience with a wide variety of financial software packages and AI‑enabled FP&A tooling (Claude, Copilot, ChatGPT). Benefits Fully‑remote position with flexible scheduling in Eastern or Central time zones; occasional PST required. Salary range: $150,000 – $180,000 for Minnesota, Colorado, and Illinois; varies by geography.
