Whether you are early in your career or an expert in your field, you will find HSS an innovative, supportive and inclusive environment.Working with colleagues who love what they do and are deeply committed to our Mission, you too can be part of our transformation across the enterprise.Emp StatusPer Diem Part timeWork ShiftDay (United States of America)Job DescriptionWhat you will be doing:Document patient encounters in real time, accurately capturing histories, physical exams, assessments, and treatment plans under provider direction.Enter dictated information into the EHR (EPIC or assigned system) with a high level of accuracy and timeliness.Retrieve, organize, and prepare prior medical records, notes, reports, and test results to support clinical decision-making.Maintain strict adherence to the scribe scope of practice; does not act independently.Verify the accuracy and completeness of documentation, identifying and escalating discrepancies or missing information to the provider.Ensure compliance with HIPAA, patient privacy regulations, and site-specific documentation standards.Communicate clearly and professionally with physicians and clinical staff to anticipate workflow needs and support efficient patient visits.Demonstrate compassion, courtesy, and professionalism during patient interactions.Remain punctual, adaptable, and reliable in a fast-paced clinical environment, adjusting to schedule changes and clinic volume as needed.Education:High school diploma or equivalentExperience & Skills:Minimum of 1 year of experience in a medical or clinical setting or 1 year of undergraduate study in a medical fieldPrior experience with EPIC or other electronic health record systems preferredTyping speed of at least 55 words per minute with high accuracyStrong written and verbal communication skillsExcellent attention to detail and organizational skillsCustomer service–oriented mindset with the ability to respond to patients and families with empathy and professionalismAbility to work collaboratively within a multidisciplinary healthcare teamCommitment to patient safety, confidentiality, and ethical standardsNon-Discrimination Policy Hospital for Special Surgery is committed to providing high quality care and skilled, compassionate, reliable service to our community in a safe and healing environment.
