Summary of Purpose


Performs duties related to operation of print production services and all associated equipment. The employee is expected to work in a multi-cultural, diverse working environment.

Typical Duties


This description is intended to indicate the types of duties and responsibilities requested of the employee assigned this title. It is not intended to be an exhaustive list of all the duties and responsibilities that may be required:

1. Operates and maintains equipment including print production equipment such as wide format and digital printers, folders/inserters, and other departmental equipment; monitors safety, security, and cleanliness of work area.
2. Prepares, operates, monitors, and maintains the closed network print management system and all related equipment.
3. Analyzesproblemsthatoccurintheprint production systemandrelatedequipment;takes corrective action, as necessary.
4. Oversees the quality of printed materials such as, alignment, legibility and cleanliness.
5. Assists customers with all aspects of printing process (e.g., pricing, paper selection, finishingoptions)andadherencetoallcopyrightrulesandregulations,alertingimmediate supervisor of potential violations.
6. Maintainsandcreatescustomerservicerequestsdatabaseandelectronicdocumentlibrary of recurring customer jobs, as necessary.
7. Coordinatesandmaintainsproductionschedulesinvolvingmultiplepiecesof equipment.
8. Maintainsinventoryfordepartmentaloperating supplies.
9. Combines,creates,andimprovesdocumentsasnecessarytomakeprint ready.
10. Preparesmonthlyreports inatimelymannerandadditional reports,as needed.
11. Trainsanddirectscollegestudentpersonnelwith appropriate approval.
12. Ability to lift up to 50 lbs. and stand for extended periods of time.
13. Performsrelatedtasks,as assigned.
14. Abilityto work additional hours, as needed.

Minimum Education and Experience

EDUCATION: Successfulcompletionofaminimumof24collegecredithoursin Computer Information Systems (CIS).
-OR-
Certification as a Print Specialist.
-OR-
An associate's degree or higher in any discipline.
-AND-
EXPERIENCE: Two (2) or more years of experience in a printing and finishing environment. Must also possess and maintain a current and valid Michigan driver's license.
