Museum Curator (Religion)

Position Title Museum Education & Public Programs Coordinator Location Chandler, Arizona (on‑site) Employment Details Full‑Time, Indefinite, 40 hours per week; Tuesday through Friday with alternate weekend work (Saturday and Sunday). Salary $73,819.00 – $106,995.00 per year Responsibilities Supervise and oversee daily operations, setting goals and objectives, managing schedules and priorities, monitoring performance, and providing staff development and resources. Assist the Museum Manager and Senior Program Manager in program development, implementation, and the museum’s strategic planning. Collaborate with other institutions and community partners. Research and develop written materials and presentations for educational programs and exhibits. Program Development and Oversight Develop and oversee curricula and learning goals for all public‑facing programs (pre‑K, child, family, adult) across all museum facilities. Plan and execute educational activities, including school group visits, summer camps, workshops, and public programs aligned with exhibitions. Coordinate field‑trip programs with local school district representatives. Oversee interactive aspects of exhibitions (e.g., interpretive materials) and ensure program alignment with educational objectives. Analyze visitor feedback and program effectiveness, reporting findings to stakeholders and recommending improvements. Manage, train, and schedule education staff, educators, docents, and interns, including hiring and conducting performance evaluations. Knowledge, Skills & Abilities Proficiency in standard museum operating procedures, exhibit planning, development, implementation, and proper care of specimens or artifacts. Experience in creating educational programming for children and adults, with an understanding of city history and marketing strategies. Knowledge of OSHA, state, county, and city risk‑management and safety regulations. Strong supervisory and performance‑evaluation skills; ability to solve problems creatively and coordinate multiple tasks. Basic computer proficiency and ability to operate a motor vehicle. Excellent verbal and written communication skills and the capacity to represent a positive public image. Minimum Qualifications Bachelor’s degree in museum studies, social science, public history, or a related field. Three (3) years’ experience in a museum setting, specifically in education and programming. Valid driver’s license with acceptable driving record. Physical & Practical Requirements Clear speech and hearing suitable for telephone and in‑person communication. Adequate vision for reading and preparing written documents. Manual dexterity to operate office equipment and a personal computer. Physical mobility and flexibility to lift up to 20 pounds and work in an office environment.
