Work Environment

This role is based onsite at our state-of-the-art hospital facility located in Lancaster, New York. As a Nurse Practitioner, you will work within a cohesive team of healthcare professionals, including pediatricians, nurses, and therapists, who are all committed to creating a nurturing environment for our young patients and their families. The facility is equipped with advanced medical technology and resources, providing an optimal setting for delivering comprehensive care.

Key Responsibilities

• Identify and manage a wide array of health issues, including acute and chronic conditions, following established clinical guidelines.
• Prescribe and implement personalized care plans that encompass medications, dietary recommendations, physical activity, and nursing interventions.
• Collaborate closely with a multidisciplinary team in creating comprehensive patient care strategies, while referring to specialists as necessary.
• Evaluate and document patients’ responses to treatment plans, adjusting care as needed to maximize health outcomes.
• Conduct telehealth consultations, oversee laboratory results, and triage walk-in patients effectively, directing them to the appropriate healthcare provider.
• Diagnose illnesses and conditions based on comprehensive patient assessments and develop treatment protocols accordingly.
• Serve as a clinical resource and advisor to fellow healthcare providers, enhancing the overall care provided within the hospital.
• Participate actively in the mentoring of newly hired nurse practitioners, ensuring smooth integration into our clinical practices.
• Contribute to the development, review, and modification of specific practice guidelines tailored to our agency's protocols.
• Engage in peer audits to uphold a high standard of quality in patient care.
• Support quality assurance initiatives and incorporate insights into daily clinical practice.
• Maintain confidentiality regarding patient information while demonstrating sensitivity to the unique needs of children and their families.
• Provide direct patient care through regular clinical sessions, conducting health histories and problem-focused examinations.
• Order and interpret diagnostic tests to facilitate accurate and timely decision-making in patient care.

Patient Population / Client Focus

The primary focus of this position will be on pediatric patients in our hospital's pediatric unit. The NP will work diligently to ensure that children receive comprehensive and compassionate care that addresses their physical, emotional, and developmental needs. Your role will be pivotal in guiding families through healthcare decisions and improving the overall well-being of the children we serve.

Qualifications

• A valid New York State Nurse Practitioner license and certification in Family Health or Adult Health are required.
• A Master’s Degree in Nursing is necessary for this role.
• Current NPI number and DEA certification.
• Demonstrated experience in ambulatory care settings.
• A minimum of 3 years of relevant nursing experience is required.

Preferred Experience

• Prior work experience in pediatrics or a related field is strongly preferred.
• Familiarity with electronic health record (EHR) systems and clinical documentation processes.
• Strong interpersonal skills, with the ability to communicate effectively with patients, families, and healthcare professionals alike.

Compensation and Benefits
