Job Summary The Patient Access Clerk is responsible for all clerical, communications, and data processing activities pertaining to the admitting and registering of inpatients and outpatients to the facility. The Clerk handles proper charging, billing, and receiving, statistical recording, financial transactions, and records maintenance and inquiry of all patients. They must display a positive attitude toward all patients, visitors, and staff, consistent with the organization’s mission, goals, policies, and procedures. The Clerk is expected to maintain personal growth and development to keep skills aligned with job requirements and assist colleagues in the department. Comfort in addressing conflict, dealing with strong personalities, and working in a fast-paced environment is essential. Reports To Patient Access Supervisor Education High school Diploma or Equivalent Required Clerical or secretarial experience, preferably in a hospital or health-related environment, and typing skills of 40 wpm. Pleasant personality with good interpersonal skills and a positive attitude. Appropriate written and verbal communication skills; must possess positive customer-service skills and professionally manage conflict. Strong team player and ability to work independently. Strong critical-thinking skills and ability to problem-solve. Preferred 6 months of medical clerical experience highly preferred and will be prioritized during interviewing. A knowledge of medical terminology. Compensation Base pay range: $19.68–$26.86 per hour (good faith representation; may be modified in the future). Pay is determined by factors including experience, relevant qualifications, specialty, internal equity, location, and contracts. This rate does not include the night differential of $6.
