Summary (Job Overview)
The Application Security Manager will be responsible for ensuring the security of infrastructure, networks, data, and applications. This role ensures that applications and services are secured and implemented with best practices, aligned with organizational governance models.
Job Duties
- Data Security Management and operation models implementation
- Establish compliance standards (NIST, FIPS, FedRAMP)
- Collaborate with Privacy and Security office teams for compliance reporting and approvals
- Support auditors with compliance reports and mitigation steps
- Implement vulnerability testing tools (SAST/DAST)
- Manage vulnerability remediation, penetration testing, and compliance reporting
- Coordinate infrastructure audits with system admins/vendors
- Maintain system integrity via industry-standard IT controls
- Automate system administration and software migration for QA/Production
- Partner with QA/application teams for compliance and quality standards
- Provide architecture/configuration recommendations for secure environments
- Offer technical assistance to agency personnel
- Evaluate and support security/audit tools
- Troubleshoot issues across environments and ensure timely resolution
- Provide 24x7 on-call production support (rotation basis)
- Deliver training in security and compliance
- Drive continuous process improvements
- Knowledge of regulatory frameworks: HIPAA, HITRUST, GDPR, NIST
- Experience designing/architecting IT and security controls across diverse networks/applications
- Strong technical aptitude and critical thinking
- Ability to solve complex security problems and recommend solutions
- Translate technical risks for business leaders and management
- Excellent communication skills (verbal, written, interpersonal)
- Detail-oriented, team-focused, and problem-solving mindset
- Flexible schedule availability (including evenings, weekends, holidays)
- 10+ years of IT experience, with 5+ years as Security Manager/Officer
- Bachelor's degree in information technology, Computer Science, or related field (or equivalent experience)
- Preferred: AWS security/compliance experience
- Preferred certifications: CISSP, CISA, CISM, CCSP
