RN Specialist - Neurology/Infusion Center - Bloomington - PRN (As Needed)

Christie Clinic's department of Neurology is seeking a PRN (as needed) RN Specialist at the Bloomington on Empire clinic between the hours of Monday-Friday 8:00am-5:00pm, with no night or weekend requirements.

Duties include the provision of professional office based nursing care for Neurology clinic patients following established standards and practices. This nurse also administers provider ordered IV Therapy Plans for Neurological Conditions.

Possession of an Illinois state registered nurse license, graduation from an accredited school of nursing, and proficient IV skills are required. Professional nursing experience of 5 years of med-surg. nursing in an acute care setting/ambulatory clinic and knowledge of neurological patient populations including: conditions and disease states, diagnostic testing, and treatment parameters preferred. ACLS and CPR preferred before hire, but can be obtained in training.

Job Duties: (This list may not include all of the duties assigned.)

• Obtains prior authorization for diagnostic testing, specialty lab testing, medications and IV therapy plans.
• Performs office based nursing triage using nursing assessment and critical thinking.
• Supports on time flow of office and infusion patients.
• Extends Provider by performing assessments and tasks at top of RN license.
• Educates patients on neurological conditions, diagnostic testing, and treatments planned.
• Administers in office prescribed medications and treatment in accordance with nursing standards and as directed by provider.
• Prepare equipment and aid provider during treatment, examination and/or testing of the patient.
• Observe, record and report patient's condition and reaction to medication and/or treatment to provider.
• Act as a liaison between the patient and provider regarding complaints, concerns, etc.
• Perform related work as directed, as required.
• Documents all assessments, interventions and charges accurately and timely within EMR.
• Actively involved with patient phone calls in a timely manner.
• Maintains relevant IV supplies, medications, and office supplies for department effectiveness.

Typical Physical Demands:

Demands include sitting, standing, walking, bending, stooping, stretching and lifting up to 50 pounds. Hearing within, or correctable to, normal range, vision correctable to 20/20 and manual dexterity for the operation of office equipment is required.

Typical Working Conditions:

Work is performed in a clinical setting with possible exposure to communicable diseases, toxic substances and bodily fluids. Requirements may include working irregular hours.

Pay and Benefits:

The estimated pay range for this position is exclusive of fringe benefits and potential bonuses. Final offers are based on various factors, including skill set, experience, qualifications, and other job-related criteria. We also offer vacation pay as well as a 401k plan.
