The Village of Whitefish Bay is seeking a Police Officer. The salary range is $71,168.69 - $97,096.64 annually. The position is located at Village Hall and Police Department, 5300 N. Marlborough Drive, Whitefish Bay, WI. This is a full-time position.

The job summary includes:

• Responding to routine and emergency calls for service
• Exercising lawful use of arrest, force, search, and seizure powers
• Making independent observations to identify problems and initiate measures
• Conducting thorough investigations and preparing accurate reports
• Offering credible testimony at trials or hearings
• Following department rules and policies
• Promoting professional relationships within the department and community
• Performing other duties as assigned

Qualifications include:

• Meeting requirements established by the State of Wisconsin Law Enforcement Standards Board and the Village of Whitefish Bay Police Commission
• Ability to operate motor vehicles and police equipment
• Qualifying with and maintaining proficiency with department firearms
• Having a full range of movement, physical strength, endurance, fitness, and conditioning
• Effective communication skills both orally and in writing
• Ability to deal effectively, ethically, and compassionately with victims, suspects, and others
• Ability to control situations where authority is needed
• Ability to recall details, copy information, and apply instructions with accuracy
• Ability to analyze situations, exercise independent judgment, and make judicious decisions
• Ability to identify and gather information to generate effective solutions
• Ability to exercise discretion consistent with department policy
• Knowledge of Federal, State, and local laws and ordinances
• Knowledge of department rules, regulations, directives, and policies
• Knowledge of arrest, search, and seizure techniques
• Knowledge of crime scene management and control
• Knowledge of Village geography

Lateral transfer benefits include:

• Starting at Step 2 or Step 4 of the applicable wage scale based on experience
• One-time compensation bonus of $6,000 payable upon completion of the probationary period
• Credited vacation time based on years of experience
