Assistant Controller
Lutheran Services Carolinas is seeking an experienced and detail-oriented Assistant Controller to support the financial operations of our mission-driven organization. This leadership role is responsible for overseeing day-to-day accounting functions, supporting financial reporting, maintaining internal controls, and supervising accounting team members while partnering closely with the Controller.
Key responsibilities include overseeing daily accounting operations and supervising accounting, accounts payable, and payroll/benefits teammates. Ensuring accurate and timely monthly closings, account reconciliations, and financial reporting. Assisting with the preparation of internal and external financial statements and annual audits. Establishing and maintaining financial systems and controls that ensure data integrity and compliance. Supporting special projects, financial analysis, and management reporting initiatives. Collaborating with leadership and operational teams to support organizational goals. Performing additional duties as assigned.
Required qualifications include a Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance, minimum of 5 years of accounting experience, including managerial experience, strong written and verbal communication skills, proficiency with Microsoft Office applications, including Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and Outlook, and demonstrated professionalism, integrity, and ethical conduct.
Preferred qualifications include CPA license and/or advanced degree.
