Research Scientist - Patient-Centered Outcomes & In-Trial Research

Research Scientist position within Thermo Fisher Scientific's Patient-Centered Research group, leading in-trial qualitative research projects that capture patient and caregiver experiences during clinical trials. The role combines independent project oversight, scientific innovation, and client-facing consulting to generate high-quality outcomes assessments and regulatory-ready deliverables.

Responsibilities

• Lead all aspects of in-trial research project delivery as independent Principal Investigator with oversight of junior staff
• Design and implement qualitative and quantitative studies capturing participant feedback on treatment experiences, condition impacts, and trial burden
• Develop high-quality scientific deliverables and prepare clients for regulatory meetings including FDA interactions
• Identify and pursue new business opportunities, write proposals, and manage client relationships to meet annual utilization targets
• Publish findings in peer-reviewed journals, present at professional meetings, and contribute to scientific innovation within the organization

Requirements

• Doctorate in life or social sciences (psychology, epidemiology, health services, public health) plus 3+ years relevant experience, or Master's with 5-7+ years experience
• Proficiency with qualitative data analysis software (Atlas.ti, NVivo, MAXQDA, Dedoose, or equivalent)
• Demonstrated experience analyzing patient experience data from interviews, surveys, or clinical outcome assessments
• Proven track record managing multiple concurrent projects independently
• Strong qualitative research methodology knowledge and understanding of clinical trial contexts
• Pharma or consulting company background preferred
• Familiarity with clinical research operations and regulatory requirements preferred
