Victim Services Coordinator

The Victim Services Coordinator is responsible for the administration, coordination, and operation of the Elmira Police Department's Victim Services Program, providing comprehensive, trauma-informed services to victims of crime throughout Chemung County. The Coordinator serves as the primary point of contact for victims and their families, ensuring timely access to crisis intervention, advocacy, criminal justice support, referrals, and other victim-centered services.

The position independently manages all aspects of the Victim Services Program, including program development, grant writing and grant administration, policy development, data collection, reporting, community collaboration, and compliance with federal and state funding requirements. The Coordinator works closely with law enforcement personnel, prosecutors, courts, victim service agencies, social service organizations, and community partners to ensure coordinated, compassionate, and effective services for crime victims.

This position exercises considerable independent judgment while maintaining confidentiality and adherence to applicable laws, regulations, departmental policies, and grant requirements. This is a primarily grant-funded position.

Candidate is required to have the following minimum requirements:

Either:

1. Graduation from a NYS accredited institution with a Bachelor's Degree in Criminal Justice, Social Work, Human Services, Sociology or Psychology or a closely related field and at least one year of experience providing counseling or human services support to individuals in need with emphasis on victim services, crisis intervention, or victimization.
2. Graduation from a NYS accredited institution with an Associate's Degree in Criminal Justice, Social Work, Human Services, Sociology or Psychology or a closely related field and at least three years of experience providing counseling or human services support to individuals in need with emphasis on victim services, crisis intervention, or victimization.

More work experience is preferred. Starting pay is $54,070.00 a year.
