Social Work Supervisor 2 (Transplant)

Job Summary Social Work Supervisor 2 (Transplant Team) provides clinical and operational leadership for licensed clinical social workers supporting inpatient and ambulatory transplant services. Serving as a key advisor to transplant leadership, this role oversees daily operations, staffing assignments, and resource management while ensuring alignment with transplant center goals, regulatory standards, and patient care priorities. The position supervises social workers across adult and pediatric inpatient and outpatient settings, including career and per diem staff, and may oversee interns and other assigned personnel. Responsibilities include onboarding, training, scheduling, performance evaluations, mentorship, resolving staff concerns and grievances, and fostering professional development within a highly specialized transplant environment. The Supervisor maintains professional competence and participates in transplant compliance, quality improvement, and performance improvement initiatives, with opportunities for community outreach involvement. The Supervisor partners with interdisciplinary teams to address complex operational and patient care challenges, support policy and procedure development, and lead quality assurance activities. In addition to leadership responsibilities, the Supervisor provides advanced social work interventions for patients with complex medical and psychosocial needs. Minimum Qualifications Valid CA LCSW licensure with the Board of Behavioral Science to maintain employment with UC Davis Health Master's degree in social work from a U.S. regionally accredited institution or foreign equivalent At least three years of Supervisor experience in a medical setting Two years of clinical/direct service experience post-licensure within an acute care hospital setting Previous experience supervising program-level data collection as part of quality improvement or outcomes evaluation Excellent interpersonal and communication skills: verbal, written and listening Ability to convey instructions, directions and information appropriately and accurately Ability to work diplomatically with a wide variety of people Ability to work as a team member Ability to work well as part of a multidisciplinary clinical team and demonstrate respectful and collaborative communication is required Demonstrated ability to successfully and respectfully manage conflict Ability to work independently, organize schedule to complete tasks on time, and complete documentation or other projects in a timely fashion is required Ability to organize a variety of concurrent activities, set realistic goals and objectives, plan and meet deadlines without compromising quality Ability to work independently with minimal direction Ability to exercise discretion and make independent judgments, with decisions reviewed by the department manager if they represent departure from departmental goals Ability to direct the actions of others effectively in order to accomplish tasks and function Skills, knowledge and ability to support the policies and procedures of the Department of Clinical Social Services and U.C.
