Position Summary

Ruffin Medical Group is seeking a compassionate, dependable, and highly motivated Medical Assistant who is fluent in Spanish and English to join our primary care team. The Medical Assistant will provide clinical and administrative support in both the medical office and patients’ homes . The ideal candidate will be comfortable working in a fast-paced primary care environment and interacting with patients from diverse backgrounds.

Fluency in Spanish is required. The ability to communicate effectively with Spanish-speaking patients and families is essential to this position.

Essential Responsibilities

Clinical Duties

• Room and prepare patients for office and home-based visits.
• Obtain and document vital signs, medication lists, medical histories, and other clinical information.
• Assist providers with physical examinations, procedures, and treatments.
• Perform point-of-care testing, including blood glucose, urinalysis, and other office-based tests as directed.
• Collect and properly handle laboratory specimens.
• Perform and document EKGs and other basic clinical procedures within scope of practice.
• Assist with wound care and other primary care procedures as directed by the provider.
• Prepare and maintain examination rooms and clinical equipment.
• Provide patient education and reinforce provider instructions.
• Communicate effectively with patients and caregivers regarding appointments, instructions, and follow-up care.
• Maintain accurate and timely documentation in the electronic medical record (EMR).

Home-Based Care

• Travel with the provider or independently, as appropriate, to patients’ homes.
• Assist with patient assessments and clinical procedures during home visits.
• Provide professional and compassionate care in patients’ homes while maintaining privacy and confidentiality.
• Communicate with family members and caregivers as appropriate.
• Ensure all necessary clinical supplies and equipment are available for home visits.
• Maintain accurate documentation of home-based services.

Administrative Responsibilities

• Schedule and confirm patient appointments.
• Assist with referrals, prior authorizations, prescription requests, and medical records.
• Answer telephone calls and respond to patient inquiries professionally.
• Verify and update patient demographic and insurance information.
• Assist with scanning, filing, and maintaining medical records.
• Maintain compliance with HIPAA and all organizational policies and procedures.

Required Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• Completion of an accredited Medical Assistant program preferred.
• Fluent Spanish and English speaking skills required.
• Previous experience in a primary care, family medicine, urgent care, or similar healthcare setting preferred.
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
• Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a healthcare team.
• Ability and willingness to travel to patients’ homes.
• Valid driver’s license, reliable transportation, and appropriate automobile insurance required for home visits.
• Ability to maintain patient confidentiality and demonstrate professionalism at all times.
