Pay Range: $30.68 - $37.29

Status: Full Time Part Time Regular Temporary

Job Summary:

This Eviction Prevention Case Manager position is a key member of the Chief Seattle Club team, responsible for providing culturally competent housing case management to our members. This position will report directly to the Housing Program Manager and requires sensitivity to the needs of homeless and low-income American Indians.

The Case Manager works with residents facing eviction due to rental arears, or needing assistance with utility payments The case manager position requires in-person meetings with members, application processing, and property management coordination. The Case Manager will work with residents on any barriers they may have that is preventing them from acquiring and keeping a permanent home

This position requires excellent oral and written/communication skills, and the ability to prioritize and manage a large caseload. Must work efficiently under pressure and creatively to resolve issues that arise. This position represents the organization with confidence and professionalism.

Goals and objectives are established and evaluated by the Housing Program Manager. Changes to the job description may happen at any time according to the needs of the organization.

 

Essential Job Functions:

• Provides coordinated services with multiple Chief Seattle Club partnering agencies. Expected to meet program performance objectives and productivity standards.
• The Eviction Prevention Case Manager will have a regular case load of 30 households, many will cycle off through the year, so the yearly expectation of households served is 100 providing short-term and medium-term assistance based on individual household needs.
• Provide utility assistance by managing subsidies and enrolling eligible households into the City of Seattle’s utility discount program.
• Able to multi-task and keep track of eviction prevention and utility assistance budgets; excel efficient, Word document efficient for deliverables, and proficient with computing numbers.
• Provides initial intakes for incoming members as needed.
• Determines member’s/client’s strengths and needs by establishing a safe trusting relationship with members/clients and CSC partnering agencies; assist in establishing a goal-oriented Individual Housing Plan.
• Maintains continuity of care by communicating changes in member condition to all relevant CSC personnel; documenting changes and service plan events; monitoring progress toward housing goals and adjusting services as required.
• Establishes a compassionate and respectful environment by practicing good communication skills; keeping member information confidential; conducting self in professional manner.
• Maintain and update detail & progress notes, advocacy when needed and other duties as assigned but the management team.
• Must be willing to speak directly with landlords on all rental issues.
• Must be able to confidently and calmly handle tense phone conversations with either landlords or community members.
• Maintain active engagement in promoting a safe work environment by following safety procedures and participating in required safety trainings relevant to their role.
• Support resident safety by responding appropriately to emergencies, reporting hazards or incidents promptly, and modeling safe practices in alignment with agency policies and trauma-informed care principles. Completion of all safety-related trainings. May be asked to participate in safety meetings. 
• Other job-related duties as assigned by Housing Program Manager.

 

Non-Essential Job Functions:

• Attends and participates in CSC training, staff meetings, and monthly CSC partners meeting.
• Completes projects and tasks as assigned by Housing Program Manager as needed.

 

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Required :

Education:  Bachelor’s degree in related field, or equivalent working experience

Experience: 

• One year working in high-risk/at-risk populations but any experience with at risk/vulnerable populations is a plus

• One-year case management or closely related position experience 
• Has experience with Native communities and/or strong awareness of Native culture.

 

Licenses/Certifications: Valid Drivers License 

Technical Skills & Competencies:

• Capable of compiling and reporting monthly data and statistics to support program evaluation and board reporting.
• Accurately maintains documentation in client tracking systems such as HMIS/Clarity or agency-specific platforms, ensuring compliance and data integrity.
• Maintains secure and well-organized resident files, both physical and digital, in accordance with confidentiality standards.
• Excellent typing, verbal, written and communication skills.
• Proficient in Microsoft applications (Outlook, Word, Excel).
• Proficient calculation abilities

Physical Requirements: 

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to: work at a stationary work space for long periods of time, use a PC, constantly reaching with hands and fingers and keyboarding extensively; work with team as frequent communication is required, be able to read and write documents in hard and electronic copy, have the physical strength and agility to handle routine office tasks and machinery. Travel may be required for certain employees depending on location. This position is typically in an office environment with desktop business equipment and frequent telephone calls. Noise level is moderate. Frequent interruptions are common, while under deadlines and time constraints.

 

Most positions at CSC are exposed to members of the community who have experienced or are 

experiencing trauma in various forms including but not limited to: domestic violence, sexual 

violence, homelessness, unemployment, financial hardship, etc. As a result, staff are at risk of
