Day Kimball Health – Per Diem Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) – Putnam, CT Day Kimball Health is hiring for a per diem Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) to join our Respiratory department in Putnam, CT. Hours: Per Diem, as needed Shift: Varied Per Diem Requirement: Per diem employees are expected to work a minimum of 32 hours per month. In addition, the RRT will participate in continuing education and department programs as required. Responsibilities Perform all listed respiratory procedures including aerosol therapy, ABG’s, oxygen therapy, ventilator care, overnight oximetry, and resuscitations for adult and neonatal patients. Provide clinical assessment on all patients on respiratory services with appropriate recommendations to attending or ordering physicians. Actively participate in department in-service educational programs. Flexibly rotate shifts or work odd schedules as needed. Orient new employees and/or students to the department as requested. Participate in department projects and programs as requested. Education & Experience Requirements Current AHA Healthcare Provider CPR certification or equivalent within 3 months of hire required. Currently licensed in the state of Connecticut required. Certificate of Respiratory Therapy required; Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) by NBRC preferred. Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Active member in good standing with the AARC. Read prescription, draw arterial blood gases, and review patient information to assess condition and determine requirements for treatments such as type and duration of therapy, medication, and dosages. Determine the most suitable method of administering inhalants, precautions to be observed, and modifications compatible with physician orders. Set up and operate devices such as mechanical ventilators, therapeutic gas administration apparatus, environmental control systems and aerosol generators. Function effectively under stress, prioritize workload and make appropriate decisions. Communicate well with physicians, hospital staff, patients and the general public.
