Maintenance Mechanic 2 Generator & Equipment Maintenance

Under the supervision of the Maintenance Mechanic 4 for the West Region of the State Maintenance & Support Services (SMSS), a part of the Construction & Facilities Management Office (CFMO), this position is a member of the SMSS Generator & Equipment Maintenance Shop (GEMS) and is responsible to provide journey level skills to ensure generators and SMSS-assigned equipment remain in compliance and in operational status. This is a civilian position and does not require military service affiliation.

Responsibilities include:

• Accomplishing regulatory compliance, preventative maintenance, and repair/replacement of assigned generators and statewide equipment.
• Repairing, restoring, and/or replacing components as needed to maintain safe operation of maintenance vehicles.
• Performing preventative maintenance on various automotive makes and models.
• Troubleshooting and repairing non-scheduled automotive maintenance.
• Inspecting, troubleshooting, and diagnosing various automotive systems.
• Assisting grounds and custodial crew as assigned.

Required qualifications include:

• Two years of experience as a Maintenance Mechanic 1.
• High school diploma or GED, and three years of experience in building and equipment maintenance, construction, and/or repair work.

Desired qualifications include:

• Scheduling generator and equipment inspections and repairs.
• Maintaining fleet vehicles.
• Knowledge of commercial generators and maintenance equipment compliance requirements, operation, and repair.
• Automotive maintenance and diagnostics.
• Utilizing Microsoft Office Suite to develop program documents.
• Demonstrating a commitment to learning and growth.
• Demonstrating a willingness to understand and meet the needs of others.

Conditions of employment include:

• Must successfully complete the appropriate background checks required for employment and to obtain and maintain a JBLM Temporary Pass.
• Must be willing to sign releases of information and shall not have access to any investigative materials and files.
• Must have a valid driver's license to drive in the State of Washington and meet requirements of the REAL ID Act.
• Willingness to work on a Military Controlled Access Installation.
• Actual work hours will start no earlier than 6:00 am and end no later than 6:00 pm and will include core business hours of 8:00 am to 4:00 pm.
• Occasional statewide travel may be required up to 5% to include overnight stays.
