Clinical Research Nurse Coordinator

Position OverviewUnited Health Services (UHS) is seeking a highly skilled and motivated Clinical Research Nurse Coordinator to support our clinical research initiatives. Under the direction of the Office of Clinical Trials Program Manager, the Clinical Nurse Coordinator independently leads and coordinates activities related to the conduct of clinical research across both acute care and outpatient settings. This role is responsible for ensuring the effective execution of clinical trials in alignment with regulatory requirements and organizational standards.
The Clinical Research Nurse Coordinator collaborates with a diverse group of stakeholders, including UHS patients and employees, members of the broader community, pharmaceutical sponsors, government agencies, local businesses, and academic research partners.

There is more than one location associated with this position. This is either because there are multiple openings at different sites, or the successful candidate will be required to float across multiple UHS facilities. $25.27 - $37.90 per hour, depending on experience
Job Responsibilities
Participates in and supports research monitors during study initiation and closeout activities.
Coordinates and accommodates monitoring and auditing visits to ensure compliance with quality assurance standards.
Maintains regulatory documents and case report forms in accordance with sponsor requirements and regulatory guidelines.
Develops familiarity with study protocols; attends investigator meetings and scheduled conference calls.
Screens, recruits, and interviews prospective study participants; obtains and documents informed consent; educates patients and their support systems on study requirements.
Ensures proper collection and processing of laboratory samples, EKGs, radiology studies, and other protocol-specific procedures, coordinating appropriate study-related billing.
Transports biological specimens for processing and shipment; manages archived images in compliance with protocol requirements and federal transport regulations.
Monitors participants during investigational product administration in collaboration with the pharmacy research liaison and Principal Investigator; documents all visits in progress notes.
Promotes accurate data collection and documentation in accordance with protocol requirements using approved institutional tools and forms.
Enters data into case report forms and submits reports and query resolutions to the coordinating center in a timely manner.
Tracks participant progress and compliance; assesses and reports serious adverse events in accordance with UHSH Institutional Review Board, sponsor, and regulatory requirements.
Provides oversight and administrative support to external research partners utilizing hospital resources, ensuring adherence to facility billing and charging processes.
Actively engages nursing and medical staff to support study enrollment efforts.
Collaborates regularly with Principal Investigators and communicates with coordinating centers to monitor study progress and develop recruitment strategies.
Job Qualifications
Minimum Required:
High school diploma and at least 4 years of experience in Health Sciences or related field
Completion of a state-approved practical nursing certificate/diploma program
NY State Licensed Practical Nurse
Preferred:
Bachelor’s of Science degree in nursing (BSN), and at least 5 years’ experience in acute care setting
NY State Registered Nurse
Certification in the Practice and Principles of Clinical Research and Good Clinical Practice (GCP) by an accredited research organization.
