Job Description

This short-term contract role (approximately 12–14 weeks) focuses on serving as the Superintendent for a ground-up convenience store and fuel station project. The Superintendent oversees site civil construction operations and ensures the project stays on schedule, within budget, and compliant with all safety and quality standards. This position offers the opportunity to gain valuable experience working in a general contractor environment as a site Superintendent.

Responsibilities

• Oversee day-to-day site civil construction operations for a ground-up commercial project, including utilities, grading, paving, earthwork, concrete, and stormwater systems.
• Manage and coordinate multiple subcontractors on site to ensure efficient sequencing of work and adherence to project plans and specifications.
• Maintain and track project schedules, proactively identifying risks and implementing corrective actions to keep the project on time.
• Monitor project costs and resource usage to support delivery within budget parameters.
• Enforce safety standards and procedures on site, ensuring compliance with OSHA requirements and promoting a safe work environment for all personnel.
• Implement and oversee quality control processes to verify that work meets required standards and project specifications.
• Use construction management software such as Procore, Bluebeam, or similar tools to document progress, manage information, and support project communication.
• Conduct regular site walks and inspections to identify issues, coordinate resolutions, and confirm that work is progressing according to schedule.
• Communicate effectively with project stakeholders, including subcontractors and internal teams, to provide updates and resolve field-related challenges.
• Support project documentation and reporting related to safety, quality, schedule, and daily activities.

Essential Skills

• Approximately 5+ years of construction experience with a strong knowledge in commercial site development projects.
• Experience working as a Superintendent, Assistant Superintendent, or in a similar field leadership role on commercial construction projects.
• Proven experience managing subcontractors and coordinating multiple trades on active job sites.
• Demonstrated ability to maintain and manage project schedules for ground-up construction projects.
• Strong experience in site civil construction, including utilities, earthwork, grading, paving, concrete activities, and stormwater systems.
• Hands-on experience with quality control processes in commercial construction.
• Experience using Procore, Bluebeam, or similar construction management software platforms.
• Knowledge of and commitment to safety practices and regulations on construction sites.
• OSHA 30 Certification.
• Solid understanding of general contractor operations and commercial construction workflows.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

• Experience in ground-up commercial construction, including convenience store or fuel station projects.
• Experience in project management and site construction oversight.
• Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment with multiple subcontractors and changing priorities.
• Strong organizational and communication skills to support clear coordination and reporting.
• Interest in gaining further experience and exposure working for a general contractor as a site Superintendent.

Work Environment

This role is fully onsite at an active ground-up commercial construction project. The Superintendent works in a field environment, spending the majority of time on the construction site overseeing civil operations, subcontractor activities, and daily progress. The position involves exposure to typical outdoor construction conditions, including varying weather and active equipment. Work is performed in coordination with general contractor teams and trade partners, using technologies such as Procore, Bluebeam, and other construction management tools to support communication, documentation, and scheduling.

This is a Contract position based out of Vinton, VA.

The pay range for this position is $80000.00 - $90000.00/hr.

Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.

This is a fully onsite position in Vinton,VA.
