Job Description Purpose: The Laboratory Manager, under direction, manages the administration and coordination aspects related to the preparation of equipment and its utilization in assigned department/division laboratories. Prepares equipment and coordinates its use in all departmental/division laboratories. Assists faculty, teaching assistants, and researchers with applicable experiments and tests with a focus on transportation materials (asphalt and concrete). Maintains inventory of supplies and equipment and performs other related activities as needed to ensure the successful completion of the departmental/division mission. Responsibilities:

Maintains inventory of supplies and equipment and performs other related activities as needed to ensure the successful completion of the departmental/division mission. Responsibilities:
- Responsible for work with faculty and students to support academic and research activities and all other activities that require laboratory use with a focus on transportation materials (asphalt and concrete).
- Sets up laboratory experiments as needed. Coordinates the use of laboratory resources for class sections, research purposes, and student groups with a focus on transportation materials (asphalt and concrete).
- Prepares laboratory safety plans. Enforces laboratory safety in the lab. Instructs students, teaching assistants, and researchers on proper tool use, instrument use, and safety procedures.
- Maintains, services, and stocks parts for laboratory equipment. Orders new equipment as necessary.
- Prepares the graduate teaching assistants to fully understand the undergraduate lab and how to perform the duties in the lab. Supervises and assists with instruction when necessary.
- Effective coordination and oversight of Laboratory Coordinator for geotechnical lab.
- Effective coordination with Laboratory Coordinator for environmental engineering labs.
- Manages regular schedules, duties, tasks, and training of student assistants.
- Coordinates with the department business office, handles freight deliveries, and receiving of ingoing and outgoing packages. Oversees any student workers assigned to support these activities.
- Orders supplies and consumables to support the various activities in the lab.
- Departmental asset management, surplus management, and inventory management. Coordinates with University Property Management and with the assigned Facilities Coordinator.
- Lab safety management for the department. Serves as official lab safety officer for Civil and Environmental Engineering.
- Other duties as assigned.
- Bachelor's degree in relevant field or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Six years of related experience.
- Main Campus - College Station, TX.
- Salary range of $55,412 - $84,311 Annually, based on education and experience.
