Medical Laboratory Scientist II – Baylor Scott & White Health Job Summary Location: BSWH Hospital, College Station, TX Department: Lab Shift: Day 7-on-7-off Preferred Experience: MLS ASCP certified or equivalent with at least 2 years of hospital experience The Med Lab Scientist II performs and monitors a full range of laboratory testing and analysis, assumes responsibility for problem resolution, quality control, and required equipment maintenance with minimal supervision. Essential Functions Perform laboratory tests in compliance with department procedures and all regulatory requirements. Follow quality control, quality assurance, safety, and infection control procedures. Perform instrument maintenance, calibration, and troubleshooting. Accurately report test results. Maintain appropriate inventory of supplies. Maintain effective communication and working relationships with all laboratory personnel, other disciplines, and external customers. Participate in laboratory projects and educational activities. Demonstrate and educate laboratory principles and technical skills to others. Experience: Less than 1 Year of Experience. Certification/LICENSE/REGISTRATION: ASCP-BloodBanking Technologist (ASCP-BB), ASCP-Chemistry Technologist (ASCP-C), ASCP-Cytogenetics Technologist (ASCP-CG), ASCP-Cytologist (ASCP-CT), ASCP-Hematology Technologist (ASCP-H), ASCP-Intern'l Hematology Tech (ASCP-IH), ASCP-Microbiology Technologist (ASCP-M), Molecular Biology Technologist (ASCP-MB), ASCP-Blood Banking Specialist (ASCP-SBB), ASCP-Chemistry Specialist (ASCP-SC), ASCP-Hematology Specialist (ASCP-SH), ASCP-Microbiology Specialist (ASCP-SM). Must have one certification from one of these issuing agencies: American Board of Histocompatibility (ABHI). Additional Certifications: American Society for Clinical Pathology (ASCP), American Medical Technologists (AMT), American Association of Bioanalysts (AAB), Grandfathered HEW Licensee.
