Job Description

Commercial HVAC Technician

About JS3

JS3 is a full-service commercial heating and cooling mechanical contractor serving the Pacific Northwest. We work on the equipment that keeps commercial buildings running, including boilers, chillers, RTUs, air handlers, pumps, cooling towers, heat pumps, and more.

We believe great service starts with great people. We take care of our customers, support our team, and believe you can take your work seriously without taking yourself too seriously.

The Role

We are looking for an experienced Commercial HVAC Maintenance/Service Technician who takes pride in keeping equipment running reliably and catching problems before they turn into expensive repairs.

This position is primarily focused on preventative maintenance and service for commercial customers. You will visit a variety of facilities, work on a wide range of mechanical equipment, and build relationships with the customers you serve.

You won't be doing the same thing every day. One day you might be servicing a boiler, the next you're checking rooftop units, pumps, air handlers, or a chiller.

You'll have the independence to manage your work while having a team behind you when you need it.

What You'll Do

• Perform preventative maintenance on commercial HVAC and mechanical equipment
• Identify worn or failing components before they become larger problems
• Diagnose and perform minor repairs when needed
• Document equipment condition, findings, and recommended repairs
• Communicate findings and recommendations clearly to customers
• Work on boilers, RTUs, chillers, MAUs, heat pumps, cooling towers, air handlers, pumps, furnaces, and related equipment
• Build positive relationships with customers and become someone they can count on

What We Provide

• Fully stocked company service vehicle with tools of the trade
• Company cellphone
• Full health benefits, including dental and vision, starting day 1
• 3% IRA matching
• PTO and vacation accrual starting day 1
• 8 paid holidays
• Paid birthday off, or bank it for later
• Annual clothing and boot allowance
• $150 on-call bonus
• Technical training and career development
• Team activities and company events
• Opportunities for advancement

We're Looking For

• 5+ years of HVAC experience
• EPA Section 608 certification
• Strong mechanical and troubleshooting skills
• Experience performing HVAC preventative maintenance
• Ability to work independently and manage your day
• Good communication and customer service skills
• Pride in doing quality work and keeping equipment in good condition

Bonus If You Have

• LME, LE/B, 06A, 06B, or other relevant certifications
• Boiler certification, Class 1 or higher
• Commercial boiler or chiller experience
• VRF/VRV experience
• Controls or smart HVAC experience
• VFD experience
• Engineering, plumbing, electrical, or construction background

Why JS3?

You'll have a fully equipped van, the tools and technology you need, good benefits, opportunities to learn, and a team that has your back. If you enjoy keeping equipment running right, finding problems before they become emergencies, and working with customers who appreciate good service, we'd like to meet you.

Location & Schedule

Our office is located in Portland, with most work taking place at commercial customer locations throughout the Portland metro area, NW Oregon, and SW Washington.

Full-time, Monday through Friday, with occasional overtime and participation in weekend on-call rotations.

Must be able to regularly lift and carry up to 75 lbs, safely use ladders, work at heights, and work in tight spaces.
