About the Position

Job Title: RN II - ICU - CVICU Profession: Registered Nurse Specialty: Critical Care Duration: 8 weeks Shift: Night Shift Hours per Shift: Not specified Experience: Six months previous critical care experience preferred License: Current RN license in state of practice required Certifications: Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) certification required Trauma Nursing Core Course (TNCC) required within 1 year of hire or transfer into the department Must-Have: Current Epic experience Description: Responsible for planning, coordination, and provision of nursing care to patients in critical care settings. Supervises and delegates care responsibilities to ancillary personnel within their scope of practice. Requires knowledge and skills in caring for patients with multi-system failure requiring ventilation, neuro/trauma, respiratory failure, and hemodynamic monitoring. Provides appropriate nursing interventions in stable and emergent patient situations. Competent in all routine nursing skills including medication administration, intravenous therapy, care and maintenance of indwelling catheters and drains, and safe use of medical equipment in critical care settings. Understands and follows chain of command. Accurately interprets ECG rhythm and manages care during life-threatening emergencies. Verifies alarm settings with Monitor Technician according to policy. Demonstrates knowledge of lead functions and application and provides recommendations for monitoring based on patient presentation. Skilled in the care and management of patients requiring ICP and ventriculostomy monitoring, as well as those requiring Pulmonary Artery and Arterial Pressure monitoring catheters. Proficient in assessment and intervention in changes in neurological symptoms. Demonstrates knowledge in the management of patients requiring mechanical ventilation and other ventilatory support devices. Understands the principles of multisystem alteration and its impact on physiological functions and mental processing. Initiates multidisciplinary, goal-oriented care plans in collaboration with healthcare team members. Educates patients and/or their families about care using appropriate teaching methods. Completes legible, accurate, and timely documentation of nursing care provided, including evaluation of patient responses to medications, treatments, and procedures. Performs necessary unit-specific safety and quality control checks. Carries out other job-related duties as assigned. Committed to the safety and wellbeing of associates and patients.
