About the Role:
Grade Level (for internal use):
13The Team
Credit Ratings is an integral part of S&P Global's Global Ratings Services, bringing together a diverse group of more than 1,400 analysts across key financial centers worldwide. The Public Finance practice delivers credit opinions on public-sector issuers — including states and provinces, local governments, public agencies, not-for-profit entities, and infrastructure-related municipal issuers — translating economic trends, revenue stability, governance, and long-term liabilities into transparent views that help communities finance essential services. The Charter Schools team covers more than 600 charter school, independent school, and community college and community college district ratings, combining rigorous analytical standards with a deep understanding of the unique credit dynamics within these sectors.

As Director, the role carries responsibility for managing a complex portfolio, driving analytical quality and consistency, and coaching and mentoring a team of analysts — with direct impact on the credit opinions that communities, investors, and market participants rely on. The Director also contributes to market outreach and thought leadership, reinforcing S&P Global Ratings' presence and credibility across the charter and independent school sectors.

Core Analytical & Delivery
- Lead high-quality credit and capital markets analysis across assigned issuers and sectors, delivering forward-looking insights that support ratings, monitoring activities, risk assessments, and rating committee discussions in a fast-paced environment.

- Identify and implement workflow improvements in partnership with Data, Technology, Compliance, In-Business Control, and Methodology teams to scale best practices.
Stakeholder & Market Engagement
- Build and maintain strong relationships with issuers, investors, and market participants through credible, insight-led engagement.
- Support market outreach and thought leadership efforts, communicating complex, data-informed analysis clearly while maintaining analytical independence and objectivity.
Risk Management and Operating
- Ensure strong analytical execution with clear documentation, high-quality outputs, and adherence to governance and regulatory standards.
