Team Lead Charge Surgical PCU

Additional Information About The Role Work schedule: full-time, 3x12 shifts; nights. Sign-on bonus available up to $15,000. Must have 2+ years of RN experience. Unit Overview 163PCU is a 19-bed surgical progressive care unit. The patient population includes acutely ill surgical patients requiring higher-level nursing care and monitoring. The unit primarily cares for post-operative patients admitted to the abdominal transplant, hepatobiliary surgery, ENT/plastic surgery, and orthopaedic micro-surgery teams. It also manages critical care needs for patients admitted to trauma/ACCS/geriatric trauma surgery, orthopaedic-spine/recon/hand, vascular surgery, and overflow teams. Role Purpose Under the direction of the manager, plans, directs, and coordinates activities of the unit on a designated shift. Performs direct patient care and serves as a clinical resource for nursing and support staff. Assesses, plans, evaluates, and documents the nursing process of the unit. Responsibilities Facilitates identification and resolution of gaps in care from hospitalization, at discharge, and into the ambulatory setting. Critically assesses patient data to proactively mitigate impending changes in condition and establishes consults to the interprofessional team as appropriate. Leads the development and implementation of complex individual plans of care with defined goals in collaboration with other members of the interprofessional team and the patient, family, or caregiver in accordance with established guidelines and standards of nursing care. Actively utilizes and champions scientific inquiry for evidence based practices (e.g., participates in journal club, facilitates practice change activities, recommends new standards of care or revisions, conducts literature searches to support unit or organizational goals, disseminates new knowledge from conferences or continuing education). Explores opportunities to advance nursing practice (e.g., supports community service health events, patient/family education groups, community advisory boards, serves as adjunct faculty, or leadership boards in specialty organizations). Analyzes gaps in practice standards and provides feedback to peers in collaboration with leadership to enhance safe patient care. Leads the evaluation of the patient and family experience and adjusts care to improve patient satisfaction and quality of care. Recognized as a safety-sensitive position: the ability to work in a constant state of alertness and in a safe manner is an essential function of this job. Minimum Requirements Education: Nursing Diploma or Associate's Degree in Nursing. Experience: 2-5 years of nursing experience. Supervisor Experience: None required. Licenses & Certifications: Current RN license. Preferred Requirements Bachelor's Degree in Nursing. 5-10 years of nursing experience.
