We are seeking a detail-oriented and organized Accounting Clerk to work with a client. This is a temporary position that may go full time for the right person. The Accounting Clerk will be responsible for assisting with various accounting tasks and ensuring accurate financial records. This is a great opportunity for someone looking to gain experience in the field of accounting.

 

M-F Pay $25 per hour

Responsibilities:

• Build and maintain positive relationships with internal and external customers to facilitate smooth payment processes.
• Address internal and external customer inquiries and provide necessary documentation to support receipts.
• Collaborate with other departments along with finance team members, to ensure accurate and efficient processing of receivables.

• Record and track incoming payments, including checks and electronic transfers.
• Reconcile payments received identifying and resolving discrepancies.
• Process checks received, prepare bank deposits, and schedule with courier for delivery to bank or process electronically. Maintain accurate log of all deposits to ensure that all funds are accounted for.
• Follow up on overdue accounts and ensure timely collection of outstanding balances.
• Communicate with internal and external customers regarding payment-related inquiries and discrepancies.
• Prepare regular reports related to tourism support assessment accounts receivable for internal and external stakeholders.
• Maintain budgets.
• Collect final budgets for completed projects and confirm expenses on worksheet by comparing with general ledger report.
• Process in-kind reports through Simpleview software (CRM) to keep an accurate record of donated goods and services provided by members.
• Verify all departments’ goal figures and supporting documentation monthly for accuracy. Maintain worksheets with quarterly figures. Provide monthly and quarterly reports as needed or requested.
• Maintain archived records, organize file room, storage room and arrange for movement of boxes from the finance department at least twice a year to a secure locked area located on the first floor. An annual review or records will be necessary to purge documents that no longer need to be retained. Work with Vice President of Finance & Senior Accountant for documents to be shredded.
• Responsible for recording, allocating expenses for recurring entries and reviewing all journal entries monthly or as needed for accuracy prior to month end closures. Maintain organized files on all journal entries.
• Responsible for the backup of accounts payable and any other team members as needed.

Requirements:

• Associate's degree in Accounting or related field preferred
• Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite
• 2-3 years as an accounting clerk or similiar
• Strong knowledge of GAAP and other accounting principles
• Excellent attention to detail and accuracy in data entry
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
• Ability to prioritize tasks and meet deadlines
• Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal
• Knowledge of corporate accounting processes is a plus
