Cash Application Specialist

Job Summary The Cash Application Specialist will be responsible for accurately applying customer payments to their accounts, ensuring timely and precise processing of financial transactions. This role requires strong analytical skills, attention to detail, and the ability to work collaboratively with other departments. Key Responsibilities Process and apply customer payments (checks, ACH, wire transfers, credit cards) to appropriate accounts. Reconcile daily cash receipts and ensure accurate posting to customer accounts. Investigate and resolve payment discrepancies and unapplied cash. Collaborate with the accounts receivable team to address and resolve customer payment issues. Maintain accurate records of all transactions and prepare related reports. Assist in month-end closing activities and account reconciliations. Communicate with customers regarding payment inquiries and discrepancies. Support continuous improvement initiatives to streamline cash application processes. Qualifications High school diploma or equivalent; associate's or bachelor's degree in accounting, finance, or related field preferred. Proven experience in cash application, accounts receivable, or a similar role. Strong proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Excel. Experience with ERP systems (e.g., SAP, Oracle) is a plus. Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills. Strong attention to detail and accuracy. Effective communication and interpersonal skills. Job Type & Location This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Indianapolis, IN. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $21.00 - $23.00/hr. Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
