Make an impact in the lives of students with significant needs by providing essential support in a high-intensity special education program. We are seeking dedicated Paraprofessionals comfortable working with children who have severe autism and behavioral challenges in a structured, safety-focused environment. This contract role offers the opportunity to work with either K-8 or high school students, assisting a team committed to fostering growth and learning.
Qualifications:
- Minimum 1 year of direct experience as a paraprofessional in a special education classroom (PreK-12) with severe autism and behavioral needs
- Ability to provide hands-on support, including toileting, diapering, feeding, and assisting with transfers
- Demonstrated comfort implementing behavioral and safety interventions
- Must meet at least one Pennsylvania state paraprofessional qualification requirement or be willing to obtain certification within 60 days
- Reside within 35 minutes of the assigned school
- Commit to full-time hours (Monday–Friday, 7:30 AM–3:00 PM)
- Willingness and ability to attend a mandatory orientation week prior to assignment
- Reliable transportation
- Current clearances and references
Responsibilities:
- Provide direct classroom support for students with severe autism, including assistance with daily routines and safety protocols
- Implement individualized behavioral intervention strategies under the guidance of special education teachers and therapists
- Assist with self-care, hygiene, and mobility for students with intensive needs
- Foster positive, consistent communication with students, staff, and families
- Monitor and document student behavior, progress, and incidents as required
- Adapt quickly to changes in classroom assignments or student needs
