Part-Time Bookkeeper

Reports to: Executive Director

Hours: Part-time, flexible (2-4 hours/month)

Organization Budget: Under $200,000 annually

Location : Remote

Position Summary

The Bookkeeper will provide basic financial recordkeeping and bookkeeping support for a small nonprofit organization with one paid employee. The primary responsibility is to maintain accurate financial records, reconcile the organization’s bank account with QuickBooks, and provide information needed for financial tracking and reporting.

Key Responsibilities

• Reconcile the organization’s bank account with QuickBooks on a regular basis.
• Ensure income and expenses are accurately recorded and categorized.
• Maintain accurate and up-to-date financial records in QuickBooks.
• Prepare basic financial reports for the Executive Director and Board as needed.
• Track bills, payments, deposits, and other routine financial transactions.
• Assist with payroll and other basic financial administrative tasks, as needed.
• Review financial transactions for accuracy and flag any questions or discrepancies.
• Work with the organization’s new financial platform to ensure transactions are properly recorded and organized before reaching the bank, when applicable.
• Maintain organized financial files and documentation.
• Support the Executive Director with other basic bookkeeping needs as they arise.

Qualifications

• Experience with bookkeeping, preferably for a small nonprofit.
• Familiarity with QuickBooks.
• Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
• Ability to work independently and maintain confidentiality.
• Good organizational and communication skills.

Time Commitment

This is a part-time position (2-4 hours/month) with a flexible schedule , appropriate for a small organization with limited financial activity. The anticipated workload is expected to be modest and can be adjusted based on the organization’s needs.
