The Great Dane is an upscale neighborhood pub in the heart of Royal Oak, offering great food, quality drinks, and a warm, welcoming atmosphere.

We're looking for a friendly, energetic, and dependable Host/Hostess who enjoys working with people and understands the importance of exceptional guest service.

As the first and last point of contact for our guests, you'll play an important role in creating a positive dining experience that keeps people coming back.

Key Responsibilities

• Greet every guest promptly with a warm, genuine welcome.

• Manage reservations, walk-ins, and waitlists efficiently.

• Coordinate seating arrangements to maintain smooth service and balanced server sections.

• Communicate accurate wait times and keep guests informed.

• Answer incoming phone calls professionally and assist with guest inquiries.

• Maintain a clean, organized, and welcoming entrance and host station.

• Assist with takeout orders and guest pickups when needed.

• Work closely with servers, bartenders, and management to maintain an efficient flow of service.

• Recognize returning guests and help create a personalized dining experience.

• Accommodate special requests whenever possible.

• Thank guests sincerely as they leave and invite them to return.

• Assist teammates during busy periods to ensure an excellent guest experience.

Qualifications

• Previous restaurant or customer service experience preferred but not required.

• Friendly, outgoing personality with excellent communication skills.

• Professional appearance and a positive attitude.

• Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.

• Ability to multitask and remain calm in a fast-paced environment.

• Dependable, punctual, and team-oriented.

• Comfortable using reservation systems and basic POS technology.

• Ability to stand for extended periods.

• Availability to work evenings, weekends, and holidays.
