Behavioral Health Crisis Worker

Under supervision of nursing team lead by registered nurse, learns how to work with patients experiencing acute behavioral health crisis.

Responsibilities:

• Monitors milieu, including observation and documentation of patient's behavior.
• Learns communication methods to work with patients experiencing symptoms of psychiatric illness.
• Gains knowledge of how to provide a safe, supportive, and therapeutic environment for patients with behavioral health diagnosis.
• Learns and follows pre-established guidelines to perform job responsibilities.
• Within scope of job, requires critical thinking skills, decisive judgement and the ability to work with minimal supervision. Must be able to work in a fast-paced environment and take appropriate action.

Requirements:

• High School diploma or GED, or in lieu of HS/GED, satisfactory completion of UCHealth-administered basic competency test is required.
• Less than 1 year of related experience.
• Advanced CPI within 30 days of hire.
• BLS through the American Heart Association or the American Red Cross CPR for the Professional Rescuer with card in-hand before start date. BLS or CPR card must be good through sixty days of hire.
