Senior RHEL Satellite Engineer

Salary: $175,000 - 180,000 per year Requirements:

• We require a bachelors degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Information Systems, or a closely related technical discipline, or equivalent professional experience on a year-for-year basis.
• We require an existing DOE badge or an active federal clearance at the Public Trust, Secret, Top Secret, or TS/SCI level.
• We require 10+ years of progressive Linux/RHEL engineering experience, including at least 3 years in a technical lead, principal engineer, or architect role.
• We require Red Hat Certified Engineer (RHCE) certification.
• We require Red Hat Satellite Specialist certification.
• We require hands-on experience deploying Satellite in disconnected or semi-disconnected federal environments.
• We require experience working within compliance frameworks such as NERC CIP, FISMA, or similar standards.
• We require the ability to successfully complete an NBIS eApp background investigation before starting.

• We lead RHEL 8.x, 9.x, and 10.x upgrade efforts, including troubleshooting, migration planning, risk reduction, and greenfield deployment approaches.
• We design, implement, and support Red Hat Satellite 6.x architecture, including Capsule Server placement, content lifecycle management, patching, and provisioning strategies.
• We provide technical direction for enterprise Linux modernization initiatives, ensuring alignment with security, scalability, performance, and operational needs.
• We review and quality-check Ansible automation, infrastructure-as-code, and related engineering deliverables to confirm they meet coding standards, best practices, and project expectations.
• We act as the main technical contact for government stakeholders, program leadership, and the Contracting Officers Representative, delivering guidance, updates, and recommendations.
• We mentor junior engineers, promote best practices, and help develop reusable automation frameworks and engineering patterns.
• We create, standardize, and maintain reusable automation solutions to improve consistency, efficiency, and scalability across enterprise environments.
• We collaborate with cross-functional teams to resolve technical challenges, shape solutions, and support successful execution.
• We produce and maintain technical documentation, including design packages, implementation plans, operating procedures, and project deliverables aligned to SOW requirements and acceptance criteria.
• We support continuous improvement by identifying ways to strengthen automation, infrastructure management, operational processes, and service delivery.
