Senior Application Programmer Analyst

Role Description

The Senior Application Programmer Analyst is responsible for developing, configuring, coding, testing, and debugging complex new software, enhancements to existing proprietary software or purchased software packages. In conjunction with functional users and IT Business Systems team, the incumbent assists with the design and documentation of the company’s application software environment, regularly provides guidance and training to less experienced programmer/analysts and is responsible for leading application development projects of high complexity.

• Prepare detailed technical specifications, designs, or user stories from which programs will be written or configured.
• Write high-quality code according to provided requirements.
• Address system defects and implement enhancements to existing functionality.
• Troubleshoot issues with minimal guidance, identifying bottlenecks in existing data workflows and providing solutions for a scalable, defect-free application.
• Participate in the definition of application scope and objectives through research and fact finding.
• Provide escalated support and resolution of open IT issues escalated by IT Customer Support.
• Perform code reviews and all necessary follow-up actions.
• Follow all required Company policies and practices relating to the System Development Life Cycle (SDLC).
• Maintain vendor relationships to resolve problems and coordinate the delivery of IT products and services.
• Attend and participate in all Agile ceremonies.
• Perform other job-related duties as assigned or apparent.

Qualifications

• Experience with Java, Java Script, Angular and other object-oriented languages.
• Demonstrated experience working with team using Agile methodologies and ceremonies like Daily Stand-ups, Planning, Retro, Sprint Reviews, etc.
• Experience working with FTP, FTP encryption and secure FTP Communications.
• Working with complex systems integrated with multiple Hybrid applications (Oracle, Salesforce, AWS, etc.).

Requirements

• 10+ years working with programs using static and dynamic SQL, Data Queues, Journals, Journal Receivers, Triggers, Functions and Data Management on the IBMi space, all variations of CL, RPG, SQLRPG and DB2, RPG Free.
• Demonstrated experience working with Store Procedures, RDi, RDP, ACS, VS Code or other Graphical tools for software development and writing free form SQL statements in large databases.
• Experienced at Analysis tools (X-Analysis, Hawkeye, Abstract, etc.).
• Familiar with tuning complex queries using Visual Explain and other IBM tools to improve performance.
• Advanced knowledge of IBMi Work Management (job queues, subsystems, debug in interactive and batch, etc.).
• Familiar with features for current IBMi Operating Systems (V7R4, V7R5, etc.).
• This role is fully remote; however, candidates must be available to work during Arizona business hours.
