Seeking an Excellent Infectious Disease Physician Service Chief at the OKC VA

Job Description

The Oklahoma City VA Healthcare System (OCVAHCS) is actively recruiting a board-certified full-time permanent hospital employed Infectious Disease physician Chief to join our ID service.  The Infectious Disease physician will provide comprehensive, efficient, and evidence-based care and treatments to all patients presenting with Infectious Diseases in an outpatient clinical setting and provide consultation services in an inpatient setting or emergent need. This position is for an Infectious Disease Physician who will be a member and advisor of the Infection Control Program at OKC VAMC. The ID physician will provide both inpatient and outpatient consultation services. This position will report to the Chief of Medicine Service, and Chief of Staff. Selected individuals will participate in clinical care, supervision, teaching, research, and administrative activities. This care must be delivered in accordance with hospital policy and must meet community standards. Duties include but are not limited to:

• Infectious Disease Inpatient and Outpatient attending as needed
\n
• Must be board-certified in Infectious Disease
\n
• Interact with medical staff to ensure high-quality medical care of patients who need infectious disease specialty care
\n
• Interact with multidisciplinary medical teams to ensure appropriate follow-up care of infectious disease patients
\n
• Promote a learning environment for all providers in the Infectious Section
\n
• Actively participate in training of all clinical staff in the Infectious Section
\n
• Representing the Infectious Disease Section in appropriate medical center-wide committees
\n
• Fulfill Attending responsibilities for the Infectious Disease Fellows
\n
• Orient other attending staff assigned to coverage of the clinical responsibilities of the division
\n
• Participate in on-call services, and in teaching medical students, residents and fellows rotating through the VA
\n
• Responsible for all aspects of the service goals. This includes planning, organizing, staffing, decision making, coordinating, reporting and budgeting for all areas supervised
\n
• They have broad and overall responsibility for clinical practice, program management, education, human resource management, budget management and supervision for employees whose work involves providing high acuity care
\n
• Provide leadership with objective, independent assessments and recommendations for policy, operational and administrative issues and initiatives requiring decision and action
\n
• Assures implementation of all policies and procedures
\n
• Patient Care-addresses medical problems, practices within scope of privileges, arrives in medical outpatient clinics and inpatient wards on time. May attend daily rounds and huddles for improved patient care
\n
• Medical/Clinical Knowledge-Maintains Internal Medicine board certification, meets CME requirements, and participates in resident/student training
\n
• Provide Workups on inpatients, diagnosis, interpretation of tests of critically ill patients and recommendation of treatment
\n
• Practice Based Learning & Improvement-Participates in work groups, peer review processes and committees, and/or departmental learning activities, and remains abreast of medical advances in his/her area of expertise and incorporates this information to deliver care the meets contemporary standards of care
\n
• Comply with all facility and VA directives for inpatient Medicine and care of the Veterans
\n
• Will take call for emergency coverage for the Infectious Disease Consultation Service in the medical center
\n
• Time for independent research in Infectious Disease or related fields may be provided in recognition of external funds obtained for research support.

The OCVAMC is located in Oklahoma City, OK and is the Flagship for the Oklahoma VA Health Care System (OCVAHCS) - a Joint Commission accredited, referral level 1b (medium complexity) facility. The Cardiology department serves patients across the spectrum of inpatient and outpatient care for more than 70,000 veterans in an area that includes 48 counties in Oklahoma and 2 counties in North Central Texas. Work Schedule

Full-time, Monday-Friday 08:00-4:30

U.S. Citizens receive preference non-U.S. Citizens may be considered.

Current, full, and unrestricted license to practice medicine or ID in the U.S.

Board Certified in Infectious Disease.

The starting pay is $145,000 - $350,000 per year.

• Licensure: 1 full and unrestricted license from any US State or territory

• CME: Possible $1,000 per year reimbursement (must be full-time with board certification)
