Purchasing ManagerWelcome to Advance Plumbing & Heating Supply Company, a fourth-generation family owned and operated business, started in 1920. The company's original location was at 2984 Grand River Ave. in Detroit, across from the Motor City Casino. On October 31st, 2016 we moved to our new location at 150 Parsons St. in Midtown Detroit. The new state-of-the-art location features the City of Detroit's first ever Decorative Plumbing Showroom which opened in winter of 2018.In 1990, with a solid reputation for excellence and an expanding market, Advance opened up a second location in Walled Lake, Michigan which features a state-of-the-art 5,000-square foot decorative plumbing showroom and an outstanding plumbing & heating parts counter.The successful candidate should possess excellent problem-solving, detail-oriented analyzation and time management skills. You'll excel with organizational skills and commitment to accuracy in a fast-paced dynamic environment. Primary responsibilities of the Purchasing Manager is to maintain positive relationships with suppliers, coordinating with internal teams regarding their supply needs, develop purchasing strategies and lead the purchasing team in daily activities.Some duties may include:Handle day-to-day purchasing of materialMonitor and maintain reorder settings, purchasing thresholds, and other variancesDirect continuous improvement of purchasing processes in line with changing organizational needs and market conditionsImplement purchasing policies, procedures and best practices for value optimization while using data and insights to support decision makingIdentify and source new suppliers and vendorsAssist with vendor and supplier selection process based on price, quality, support capacity, and reliabilityAdminister and maintain purchasing agreements and contracts with suppliers in support of organizational requirementsConduct responsibilities for supplier onboarding and supplier outreachMonitor and reduce purchase variances to meet profit objectivesProduce regular reports on purchase commitments, costs and delivery performanceRequirements:Analytical mindset able to solve problems effectively and creatively with superb leadership and communication skillsBe capable of working in a fast-paced environment, in a customer focused role, while having a high attention to detail and speedWorking knowledge of project management, contracts and purchase ordersWorking knowledge of reorder settings, purchasing processes, and the likeProficient experience with ERP systems and Microsoft Office 365What will make us really love you:A self-motivated, positive, team player eager to join the family.Demonstrates excellent written and verbal communication skills.Treats others with fairness and respect; listens to others in team decisions and actions, and shares information with others on the team.Highly organized, attentive, flexible, and able to modify tasks with changing priorities.Ability to provide exceptional service with each interaction.Through understanding of materials and supplies used within the company.What you'll love about us:A family-oriented business is kind of our tradition – for 100 years and counting!We are Rebuilding Detroit, both through the physical buildings and the people who call it home.
