Maintenance And Engineering Leader

A well-established industrial manufacturer is seeking an experienced maintenance and engineering leader to support operations across its New York facilities. The position has eight direct reports, including a mechanical engineer, site maintenance managers, and reliability professionals.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead, coach, and develop multidisciplinary maintenance, engineering, and reliability teams.
• Build a culture centered on safety, accountability, collaboration, and continuous improvement.
• Align maintenance and engineering strategies with operational reliability, efficiency, and quality goals.
• Strengthen preventive, predictive, and reliability-based maintenance programs.
• Partner with operations to prioritize work, coordinate outages, and manage major repairs.
• Lead capital and major maintenance projects from initial concept through commissioning and closeout.
• Develop and manage project scopes, schedules, budgets, and ROI justifications.
• Oversee contractors, vendors, and internal project teams.
• Manage departmental budgets, maintenance spending, and capital investments.
• Support long-term asset planning and identify cost-saving opportunities without compromising safety or reliability.
• Ensure compliance with OSHA, environmental, quality, and company safety standards.
• Communicate operational performance, risks, priorities, and resource needs to senior leadership.

Preferred Background

• Bachelor's degree in engineering or a related technical field.
• MBA or advanced degree is a plus.
• At least 10 years of progressive maintenance and/or engineering leadership experience within an industrial or manufacturing environment.
• Experience supporting 24/7 operations and leading teams across multiple sites.
• Proven success managing complex capital projects and major maintenance initiatives.
• Strong knowledge of mechanical, electrical, controls, utilities, infrastructure, and process systems.
• Experience with preventive and predictive maintenance methodologies.
• Paper manufacturing experience is highly valued but not required.
