In our patient-centered and outcome driven environment the Endocrinology Medical Assistantsupports patients in office with dutiesin-office such as rooming patients, obtaining medical history and taking vital signsas well as ensuring care beyond the moment bycoordinatingcare, supportingextended care teameffortsandconductingproactive outreach to improve outcomes and patient experience. Endocrinology Medical Assistant Responsibilities Room patients and prepare them for examination by recording vital signs, medical histories, and current medications Perform point-of-care testing (e.g., blood glucose, HbA1c) and document results accurately Assist providers with procedures such as injections and specimen collection Administer medications and injections as directed (e.g., insulin, vitamin B12) Collect, label, and process laboratory specimens (urine, etc.) Educate patients on medication usage, glucose monitoring, and lifestyle modifications Accurately document clinical information in the electronic health record (EHR) Performs thorough andaccuratemedication reconciliation at each patient encounter by reviewing, verifying, andconsolidatingall prescription medications, over-the-counter drugs, supplements, and herbal products Manage in-basket messages, prescription refill requests, and prior authorizations Prepare andmaintainequipment and supplies commonly used by theprovider Identifybarriers to care (transportation, medication access, health literacy) and elevate appropriately Participation in interdisciplinary team meetings& daily clinic team huddles Other related duties as deemed necessary by Upperline Health Endocrinology Medical Assistant Qualifications Experience in endocrinology or chronic disease management is a plus Certified MA certification strongly preferred Demonstrates strong knowledge of medical terminology, disease processes, and basic pharmacology, including medication classifications, common indications, dosing ranges, and potential side effects Ability to accurately interpret provider documentation, diagnostic orders, and treatment plans Previousexperience working in an EMR system–ideally,AthenaHealth Proficiencyusing Word, Excel and other Microsoft Office products is necessary Must have reliabletransportation, valid driver’s license and minimum staterequiredliability auto insurance Extremely strongcustomer-service orientation andwork ethic Comfort managing multiple tasks and prioritizing in a fast-paced environment Empathy, professionalism, and cultural sensitivity Excellent oral and written communication skills to ensure that each of your interactions with patients, family caregivers, clinicians, and team members is effective and meaningful Compensation Compensation is commensurate to compensation for similar positions in the region and based on prior training and experience.
